Trump's Second Term

Trump plans to fire another 80,000 employees from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I'm headed down to my local VA waiting room to hear from the MAGAs how this is Transgender's fault.

I was going to allude to that, but I think now these cultists ar so gulled they can't see the nekkidness of their emperor.
Many of them are, but others were so shocked by what they saw that there were paralyzed until told how to react.

There is a constant meme among Conservatives claiming that nobody was tougher on Russia than Trump, and it lists a series of very minor things he did, skews a bunch of them (it claims he 'confronted' Putin over Russian interference and ignores how he utterly believed Putin), and ignored how much he bows down to them.

They've been posting it a lot, lately.
Reminds me of a poster here who repeatedly held that Trump's "Drill, Baby, Drill" was all that actually mattered on the Trump Russia subject and so all concerns about his many, many choices to favor Russia over the US and compromise himself could be summarily dismissed. Never mind that even on the question of fossil fuel prices, Trump did a bunch of things that aided Russia.

Trump on his crypto reserve

"This will be a virtual Fort Knox for digital gold."

"Never sell your bitcoin. That's a little phrase that they have. I don't know if that's right or not. Who the hell knows?"

"You're not supposed to be asking that question ... that's enough" -- Trump gets mad at and shuts down a reporter who tries to ask him about reported clashes between Musk and Rubio

Off-topic, but with Infantino present there, and incredible as it may sound, for once trump actually had genuine competetion as to who was the most corrupt person in the room.

I have no idea how economics or crypto works, but I'm going to make sweeping changes anyway.

Why not, ◊◊◊◊ face? This should have been the follow-up question by the very next reporter, then the original question until he answered it, or threw a fit and ◊◊◊◊ himself. Then, ask him what's that smell.

Notice he asked "Who are you with?". They will probably be out of the press corps now.

Until just a few weeks ago no one in the USA thought Canada was taking advantage of the USA and should be made in to the 51st state.
Now it's repeated by all the MAGA idiots
Things Trump turns into something else and MAGA understands them exactly like him.
1 Tariffs
2 Trade deficit
I wrote this in 2018
We trade fancy finished goods. Let’s take a fictional example. Two factories make 1000 cars in a month. In Mexico they make 1000 red Malibus. In Alabama they make 1000 blue Malibus. No red Malibus are made in USA. US buyers want some red Malibus. With cheaper labor, 150 red Malibus are sent to US at Mexican bulk price. Mexicans want some blue Malibus. In exchange for the same money, 100 American blue Malibus are sent over.
Mexicans end up 50 Malibus less. They sell all the 850 remaining Malibus to Brazil, who were willing to pay more than Americans.

One thing that's particularly galling is Trump and Vance, particularly Vance, claiming that a minerals deal is effectively a security guarantee for Ukraine, since if American businesses are in there then the US government will have an interest in stopping a further Russian takeover.

That probably sounds to him as if he's making logical sense but if it was even faintly sincere and he was really thinking about it rather than just grasping for excuses then he would be able to see its fatal flaw. Russia has already proposed there could be a deal for America to get mineral rights in the Ukrainian lands it has invaded and occupied. So it doesn't matter to the US whether some piece of land is liberated or occupied, they can still exploit it. Thus it doesn't matter a damn to Trump if Russia puts the whole country to the sword, so long as they're willing to pay Trump off for letting them do it, and it certainly looks as if they are willing.

Zelensky would have been out of his mind to sign that deal.
Not to mention that American businesses were active in Ukraine when Russia invaded three years ago, and it clearly didn't stop them then.

Canadian poster, a whole thread:
Your media ecosystem is largely owned by the same corporations and broligarchs who own your politicians. Y’all are fed a daily diet of misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda from all angles. Even the more ethical platforms rarely speak truth to power, instead distorting reality by insisting on “two sides to every story” getting equal time, even when one side is objective reality and the other is delusional or deceitful. I could keep going for hours because…
Canadians understand the USA intimately. We see how your systems reward terrible behaviour while punishing virtue. We know that pervasive corruption, greed, and bigotry are the driving forces in the American political system, and that the only functional institutions are the ones devoted to preserving corporate and billionaire interests. It’s not easy living in a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ country. Please stop apologizing for this reality, and work to change it instead.

Didn't you watch his speech to Congress. He is unanimously regarded by all Republicans as the greatest president ever and everything he says is right.
In public,,yes, In Private, Trump is getting quite a bit of pushback from some GOPers in Congress on many issues which will hurt their constituents...and their reelaction chances.
It is never as simple as you like to make it out to be.
With both parties, you have to distinguish between what they say in public and what they do behind closed doors.\
A lot of GOP congress crittes in swing or purple districts have a real problem: Their constiutents might well hate some of Trump's policies but still support Trump; the danger is the voters might take it out on the incumbent Republicans.

i don’t think he cares about congress. they’re barely involved at all. it’s all about executive orders and the supreme court imo

I never realized that "to gull" was an actual verb until this moment. Oh, I knew what "gullible" meant, but I learned something today.
Someone should just rearrange the letters a bit.

"Elon a Gay" would really put the cat among the pigeons.
Putting it like that makes me realize that is probably the exact reason the pictures were deleted. A bot looking for typos of his name or something.

He is even dumber then I though if that is true. He needs congress to fund what he wants to do.
