And now he's going to 'negotiate' with Putin over Ukraine. I have no doubt that this will be on a par with his Gaza plan and when the Ukrainians reject it Trump will throw them to the wolves.

Leavitt: There is an X account with the DOGE handle. They are tweeting out what they are doing.

Pressed to provide evidence of fraud that Musk has discovered, Leavitt waves around "screenshots of contracts" that go "against the president's policies"

Reporter: Are all those things you just mentioned fraud? Or all they just contrary to the president's policies?

Leavitt: I would argue that all of these things are fraudulent.

I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.
We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects.
We both reflected on the Great History of our Nations, and the fact that we fought so successfully together in World War II, remembering, that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we, likewise, lost so many!
We each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together.
But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, "COMMON SENSE." We both believe very strongly in it. We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other's Nations.
We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now.
I have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of the CIA John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, to lead the negotiations which, I feel strongly, will be successful.
Millions of people have died in a War that would not have happened if I were President, but it did happen, so it must end. No more lives should be lost!
I want to thank President Putin for his time and effort with respect to this call, and for the release, yesterday, of Marc Fogel, a wonderful man that I personally greeted last night at the White House.
I believe this effort will lead to a successful conclusion, hopefully soon!

He's already given away the borders and NATO membership before the negotiations start.

What else is he prepared to give away?

Hegseth said today "We must start by recognizing that returning to Ukraine's pre-2014 borders is an unrealistic objective, the US does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement."

Is he wrong? Does Ukraine have the manpower to push Russia out? Are we willing to enter the conflict ourselves to do that?

And Ukraine cannot join NATO as long as the war continues, and since Russia isn't going to accept Ukraine membership in NATO as part of any peace agreement, they've got a veto on that and they are going to use it. Like it or not, recognizing that is just being realistic. Note, though, that this doesn't preclude either future NATO membership or, even more importantly, other defensive treaties to ensure Ukraine's sovereignty.

You do realize that NATO isn't the only mechanism by which we can have a defense treaty, right? For example, Japan isn't part of NATO. But if anyone attacks Japan, that triggers US military retaliation.

NATO doesn't prohibit any of its members from entering into defensive treaties with anyone else. Any European country that wanted to could make such a treaty with Ukraine. All of them together could even do so as well. NATO isn't the only available mechanism.

I know what you mean and this probably seems nitpicky, but no, no he hasn't. Ukraine is a sovereign country that decides itself when to agree to a peace treaty, and on what terms. If Zelensky chooses to gives up territory, that's his decision and his alone.
