Trump's Second Term

In a little-noticed directive on her first day in office, Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered a halt to a years-old federal law enforcement effort to combat secret influence campaigns by China, Russia and other adversaries that try to curry favor and sow chaos in American politics.

Buried on the fourth page of one of 14 policy memos Bondi issued Wednesday, the order disbands the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force and pares back enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, despite years of warnings by U.S. intelligence agencies that foreign malign influence operations involving disinformation were a growing and dangerous threat.

Cutting back on defending one of the major vectors for Russian and Chinese attacks on the USA.

Asking anyone in America if the IRS should be audited is like walking into a fourth grade classroom and asking, "Who likes candy and puppies?" But the U.S. Tax Code is so full of loopholes for the very wealthy that it's a slap in the face when a billionaire says he's going to wreak righteous vengeance on it. Anyone who thinks a billionaire's interest in the IRS has anything to do with the common person is in for a rude awakening. That person may find his tax refund is just candy and a puppy.

Trump sanctions International Criminal Court, calls it 'illegitimate'

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order sanctioning the International Criminal Court, accusing it of "illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel".

The measure places financial and visa restrictions on individuals and their families who assist in ICC investigations of American citizens or allies.

Trump's executive order said the ICC's recent actions "set a dangerous precedent" that endangered Americans by exposing them to "harassment, abuse and possible arrest".

"This malign conduct in turn threatens to infringe upon the sovereignty of the United States and undermines the critical national security and foreign policy work of the United States government and our allies, including Israel,"

"Garlic and wooden stakes are dangerous and unnecessary," explained Dracula, "and should be removed from our society altogether!"

I wonder how many of those girls/women will end up as victims of one of that *****'s supporters, who will be emboldened by their leader avoiding accountability for numerous sexual assaults, and who will have fewer recourses due to his dismantling and relaxation of sexual assault policies in schools and workplaces...

I guess you missed (or ignored) arthollipot's post:

For example (from the above list), 14190 (red numbers on right): https://www.federalregister.gov/doc...ding-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling

Executive Order 14190 of January 29, 2025

Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling

In short, trump is using parental rights as an excuse to do this.

"Banning books and curriculum about slavery"

Conservative Woke I guess. This reminds me of Stalin's Short Course History of the Communist Party. History must be taught in a certain way and all the stuff we don't like stuffed down Orwell's Memory Hole.

I am assuming this only applies to Elementary and High School students, but it would not surprise me if the desire is to apply this to all forms of education in the USA.

This is of course blatant censorship, and ultimate cancel culture nonsense.

The past must be cleaned up and people only think goodthink and be goodthinkers and utter conservative correct duckspeak.

And will we get celebrations of the Confederacy and it's "actual" reasons for leaving. (Tariffs and the states rights nonsense.) Perhaps Students and teaches who dare to bring up or worst things like South Carolina's reasons for secession, (I.E., slavery), will be punished for thoughtcrime and not having good thoughts. Then again perhaps such documents will disappear down the memory hole.

Orwell would have a field day with this crap.

Raising prescription prices. No doubt we will get more trips from old people going to Canada to get cheaper drugs. Or will those people now be charged with drug smuggling?

Blackly comic in a sick way.

project 2025 is just a bunch of incoherent positions because it's not a series of positions from a coherent political philosophy. it's a bullet point list of pet project favors for all of trump's billionaire donors support for them pooling together and getting him elected. that's why he's doing all kinds of weird ass ◊◊◊◊

It has always been a list of unrelated gripes about subjects that twist the knickers of a bunch of uptight, sexually-repressed, fascist, fake-Christian nationalists. Subjects that they have, clearly, spent waaaaay too much time stewing on in their basements. Subjects that say all about the sort of twisted people they are and nothing about fixing any ills in US society.

Indeed. The richest man will oversee taxes. You can't make it up.

I just read that EO. Where does it state anything that resembles this description? Explain to me how this disallows discussion on slavery.

25-Year-Old Elon Musk Crony Has Total Control Over Treasury Payments

If the story at the New Republic is true, as a long time I/T professional I find this terrifying. Allowing one single person to modify code on a payment system without any oversight or code review? Just what is the new code doing? Auditing, I hope, but what's to say it isn't shaving one penny off of every payment and sending it to a secret account?

If this was being done by anyone else other than one of Musk's minions, that person would be instantly arrested and charged under the Computer Fraud and Abuse act, for starters. A huge number of additional charges would follow, probably enough to put that person behind bars for twenty years and more.

I note the person in question has resigned because he's been unmasked as a racist who wanted to repeal the Civil Rights Act and had promoted hatred toward people from India.

At the end of the day on February 6, my positive/negative score on the current administration stands at -77.

6 February 2024
0: Executive order: Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias (0 for "too early to tell")
-1: Executive order: Imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court
-1: US State Department incorrectly asserts on X that US Government vessels can use the Panama Canal free of charge
-2: Headline: 25-Year-Old Elon Musk Crony Has Total Control Over Treasury Payments (New Republic) (-2 for illegal)

I scored "Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias" as neutral because I'm waiting to see how it will be implemented.

I added a -1 item to January 29 because reports here in Canada are Trump did not take calls from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for several days, who wanted to discuss the upcoming sanctions. This is typical inconsiderate behaviour on Trump's part.
