Trump's Second Term

Trump just now on what Canada can do to get out of the tariffs.

"What I'd like to see, Canada become our 51st state. - We don't need them for anything, as a state it's different. - Some people say it's a long shot but if they play the game it's almost certain. - People don't want to play the game because there would be some pain."

REPORTER: Why is it important for Elon Musk to have access to the payments systems at Treasury?
TRUMP: Well, he's got access only to letting people go that he thinks are no good, and it's only if we agree with him

Apparently the corrupt politicians “protesting” outside the USAID building are the ones getting money from USAID. That’s why they’re there – they want your stolen tax dollars!

Running a trade surplus with the US ?

Having a car industry which produces desirable cars and not the kinds that only have a market in the US ?

Not completely bending at the knee to Trump ?

Not spending enough on defense ?

Still holding a grudge because they laughed at him in front of the world for giving a campaign speech for sycophantic supporters to them instead of something actually relevant to the time, place, and occasion?

Elon also says that "Activist Judges" must, and will be removed from the Bench or there is no justice.

Also that he "spent the weekend feeding USAID into the wood chipper."

Well... for the former, he has a point. It's just that the "activist judges" that keep utterly perverting Justice keep doing so in service to the far right.

Elon just posted

"Time to confess: Media reports saying that @DOGE has some of world’s best software engineers are in fact true."

Question. Did Musk buy whatever reports he's referring to, if they even exist?

Canadian (in Canada) and Scandinavian (on Greenland) partisans fighting American occupation troops wasn't on my 2025 bingo card either.
I know the US could take both Canada and Greenland without breaking a sweat, but the occupation would probably be hellish, the size of the areas considering.

the US doesn't have a hope in hell of taking Canada.
Turning its cities into Gaza, sure, but hostile occupation?
No chance.
The country is too big, the border too long.

According to one theory, everyone who works in the executive branch serves at the pleasure of the President and may be dismissed at any time without cause.

According to another theory, the "pleasure" principle extends only to those appointed. People who are only employed by the executive enjoy ordinary protections on their employment that include not being fired for alleged political reasons.

Of course no one will enforce anything. It doesn't matter whether you obey the law if you own the police. However, the fired employees may have some recourse in civil actions.
What a horrible situation. Never anything like this in U.S. history. The things this thug is doing are absolutely uncharted..

“Let me tell you: We have a thug in charge of the United States. And if we don’t wake up, we may not have a United States, because right now he has only been successful in being a divider in chief.” - Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) The Hill article link

No way to stop him?!?

Trump has signed an Executive Order calling for the creation of a Sovereign Wealth Fund

The USA is now for all functional definitions a dictatorship, and they the USA population voted for it.
Well, it had a good run. 248 years of continuous democracy is pretty amazing. Even though it was of course democracy for the few for most of that time, it's quite the record. As we all know, no other country comes close.

Even if they only took the areas with the actual population centres, it'd probably make Viet Nam look like a walk in the park. You'd have partisans, saboteurs, and probably outright terrorists on both sides of the Canadian border. It'd be hell.

But let's remember, we didn't think putin would be dumb enough to try to take Ukraine either.

Canada, probably. Greenland, no way. The population is much too small to conduct Guerilla war against the US. Besides, the habitable area is just a sliver of land along the coast, and there is no vegetation to hide in.
