Trump's Second Term

As far as right wing violence goes"
You ain't see nothing yer.
I think any ex official targered by trump is a fool if he or she does not arm up.

I know people ridicule me for my Civil War prediction, but I think we will have a 1960's level of political violence befoer this is over.

it’s plain to me that these tech bros we got here can’t get the job done. all they made was a social media cesspit and their ai doesn’t work, it doesn’t drive and it can barely make a coherent sentence. they run bit coin scams and hang around with joe rogan. they’re not serious people.
DeepSeek is now reporting being hit by a cyber attack. War is on, of a sort.

The map thing is good way of forcing companies to choose loyalty or opposition. Millions of people use Google maps. Mine (Google Earth Pro on my PC) still calls it the Gulf of Mexico - but Google will probably come under pressure to change that.

...and Google bends the knee:

It took something less than 48 hours, I think.

The app on my PC doesn't show it yet, but they have signaled compliance; it'll appear in an update sooner or later.

The purge continues

Trump has fired more than a dozen justice department lawyers who worked on two criminal cases against him.

The firings are effective immediately.

They were fired after Acting Attorney General James McHenry concluded they could not "be trusted to faithfully implement the president's agenda because of their significant role in prosecuting the president", a department official told the BBC's US partner CBS News.

Also today acting US Attorney Edward Martin, a Trump appointee, ordered prosecutors in his office to turn in documents, emails and other information related to the previous administration's decision to bring an obstruction charge against more than 200 Capitol attack defendants.

I saw people in that thread suggesting spamming Google with error reports once they change the name.

It will remain Gulf of Mexico to all Google users outside the USA. Not a Joke.
Turkey was changed to Türkiye at the request of the Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Whether you actually need the UN to approve the GoM name change I have no idea.

True, but there is a difference between asking people to spell the name of your own country more in line with it's actual pronunciation and a dictact renaming an internationally named feature.

I'm not sure whether people are ridiculing you for your civil war prediction so much as calling you out for repeating it ad-nauseam whilst at the same time saying that other people are grossly overreacting to US events when they extrapolate current events and/or calling people (like me) out who take a pessimistic view of developments in the US.

You may very well be right that the US may soon be experiencing 1960s levels of political violence - IMO the risk is from those on the right who wish to vent their frustration on minorities and liberals - but that's a long, long way from what I understand as actual civil war - organised armed forces from government and opposition squaring up against each other. IMO civil war is what has happened and is happening in Syria, Libya, the DRC and so on. I'm not even sure whether I'd say the "troubles" in Northern Ireland were a civil war.
