Trump's Second Term

The term has not even started yet, and the MAGA folk on social media are presenting a united front to politicize the CA fires. Trump himself included. There is no remorse. Now on the Trump revenge starts. Enough good behavior at funerals.

Historically, haven't empires always increased immigration?
No. The third empire of Germany did not as far as I know have a stream of immigrants trying to get in, quite the opposite. In fact, some attempt was made to empty newly acquired areas to make more space for ethnic Germans.

Well the Sentencing has happened and Trump has been given an unconditional discharge, although the conviction stands. The Judge explicitly cited The Supreme Court decision that allows the President to do all sorts of illegal stuff and did as poor job of setting limits.

The President seems to be largely above the law and the Courts agree. Why? because giving real penalties might interfere with Presidential powers etc. I wonder is Impeachment now illegal?

Trump - power and privilege protect you from the consequences of illegal acts.

They always have.

The US has all the control it could want over Greenland without any of the burdens - taking it over would make things much more difficult and expensive for the US.

But Trump is all about how it looks. He was going to have them move the tower on the aircraft carrier to a more aggressive post. Never mind the planes. Same with Greenland, it's just another aircraft carrier to him.

It is certainly true that the US has had bases and operations and a big presence in Greenland for a long time, but I find it hard to understand why anyone should believe the hospitality of that nation makes it ours.

We have a lot of bases in other places too. Stay tuned for Okinawa.

The fires are still raging in L.A. The incompetent pols have no idea how to put them out. Thousands of magnificent houses are gone, and many more will soon be lost. There is death all over the place. This is one of the worst catastrophes in the history of our Country. They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?

You're a politician Don. How would you put them out?

And South Korea.

I don't believe that the interests of the US, Greenland, or Denmark figure prominently in Trump et al's pursuit of Greenland.
It's very likely to be because "people tell him...". It would seem that certain people tell him lots of stuff. So that he will repeat it in news conferences, and so distract from something else.

My guess is someone told him there were Chinese submarines in Arctic waters. We've seen in the past how he assumes that something he has only just found out must only just have been discovered (because no one knows more than he does about anything), and how poor his grasp of any new information can be. So acquiring Greenland to ensure the security of the Arctic is his "brilliant solution" to this brand new "problem".

Both of those places contain a lot of people of an "ethnic disposition" so Trump may be less eager to acquire them for the US.

He may change his mind about Greenland when he finds out how few of Greenland's inhabitants are ethnically Danish.
