Workers on temporary work VISAs are also far, far less able to change jobs which helps make them more susceptible to ,as you say, lower pay & worse conditions. The billionaires want indentured servants.

Don't forget we know from his previous reign he operates in "last in, next out" mode. Whoever last grabbed his attention dictates what comes out next, which is why Musk will have to remain by his side 24/7 if he wants to keep influencing Trump. Whether Musk will do this will depend on Musk's other priorities, i.e. if Musk wants to retain his top 20 Diablo 4 ranking.

I love it that Galaxy Brain doesn't even cop to the fact that the original post is criticising him too.

PS the idea that you can continue to depend only on importing skilled workers forever will cause you to fall flat on your face, because those workers will leave for better pay elsewhere, your knowledge base will stagnate while the other countries plough ahead and after a while nobody'll want to come to you without paying massive premiums over other opportunities elsewhere (though I suspect the US is suffering from this already given its massive social problems).

This is very typical of coalitions that aren't based on common interests. Instead, the MAGA coalition is based solely on the opposition to 'Woke', and that idea is in most ways delusional ('the alleged war on Xmas') and in other ways fairly irrelevant to people's lives (for all intents and purposes, most people aren't actually bothered by trans people in their everyday lives, and the whole LGBTQ+ phobia is for the most part delusional, e.g. the story about schools performing sex-changes on students behind their parents' backs).

Immediately before the MAGA fight broke out, the 'right right' (unlike the 'tech right') had discovered that they have their hate of UnitedHealthcare CEOs (and other CEOs and billionaires, now conspicuously including Musk and Ramaswamy) in common with the 'the EVIL Revolutionary Left'.

Trump obviously needs another distraction from this, so maybe Denmark and/or Panama should seriously consider preparing for war.

I've been hearing these comments about American workers for 5 decades. Poor education. Not motivated, too expensive, etc. Except no one on the right has never been interested in addressing them. The only thing I ever hear out of the right is we must teach Christian values. And evolution and science are evil. I assure you they are not teaching Christian values in China or India. They aren't teaching that science is evil.
 
The idea that a worker has to come trained to the job is insane and implies that your company is doing absolutely nothing different than anyone else.
 
Is is sad but not unexpected that I see several posts on TwiX on the this discussion, but the MAGAmorons think when people say "Indians" they mean Native Americans.

I have to ask Musk etc. What does he mean American workers are too expensive? What kind of compensation should an American worker expect? Enough to make a mortgage payment? Enough to raise a few children? Cloth them? Feed them? Pay for the occasional medical and dental expense? Enough to send them to college? Enough to purchase cars and needed transportation? A trip to the movies maybe? A vacation every year or ten? Maybe retirement possibly?

It takes a lot of gall for a man worth almost a half a trillion dollars say that his workers are too expensive.

Anything more than minimum wage is too much regardless of qualifications, and BTW, the minimum wage should be abolished.

The likes of Musk pine for the days of indentured servitude where people would work 100 hours a week in return for scrip which could only be redeemed at the company store.
