Trump's Second Term

Ah, of course, they’d have to be those ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ countries he bangs on about

Edited quote for rule 10

I wonder what a native ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ looks like? I'm thinking orange hair and their traditional national garb of an over long red tie.

You know how upset I was when I got rejected from Harvard University because the amount of international students that probably lied on their application or attended schools that haven’t even been heard with 50 students in their graduating class?

Now our great president Donald Trump has made it a fair fight for our children to start attending prestigious universities as such and protect them from bad outside influences. I couldn’t be more proud of our wonderful president and this great nation.

50% tariff on the EU?
I guess some of Trump's billionaire buddies wanted some more money so they are getting Trump to use tariffs to tank the stock market. After a day or 2, Trump will announce some "deal" or "reconsideration", lower the tariffs slightly, stocks will go back up and the billionaires can cash in.

I just saw this:

Might be more convincing if they'd written in grammatical English and if they hadn't claimed that banning all overseas students as competitors made a "fair fight" for places.

Yeah, that never happened.

Hardliners are not going to be happy if the one happy bill does not pass. The deep state is not going to be gone, and this is their one and only chance to get the deep state, roots and all.

So we do nothing? No more court appeals? No more protests? No civil disobedience?
What's with the we? I'm not American and you are just engaged in performative concern. The court appeals might achieve something, assuming someone can actually enforce them. Protests? Functionally identical to yelling on the internet. As for civil disobedience, well that is not going to get the USA on the road to a functioning democracy.

Trump's ass hattery towards Harvard has already been blocked by a Judge. Another thing Trump doesn't understand is treating Harvard with hostility and scaring the students by telling them to transfer or they'll get kicked out of the US, is that it creates doubt for other international students thinking of coming to the US. Which is a huge problem, as this NPR article points out:

More than 1.1 million international students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities in the 2023-24 school year. They do not qualify for federal financial aid, and so play a critical financial role in many schools.

In the last academic year, international students contributed nearly $44 billion to the U.S. economy, according to NAFSA: Association of International Educators.

Per the article, it's already happening. There are fewer applications this year than there was previously. Combine this with all the other dumb ◊◊◊◊ Trump does and it's becoming clear he's ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ the US in every way he can. He's genuinely the worst ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ POTUS we've ever had.

SCOTUS allows Trump agency head firings to stand pending the full case. The decision was on the shadow docket and signals the Court's likely move to strike down Humphreys Executor, the landmark case that protects heads of independent agencies from ad hoc firing. This puts independent agencies themselves in jeopardy and marks a step toward the Court endorsing the so-called unitary executive model of Presidential authority.

ETA: But magically the Federal Reserve is somehow exempt.
