Its a shame, but yes CBP can hold you on line and ask you lots of annoying questions. Its perfectly legal.

Maybe someone famous with a lot of clout might also not wish to engage in preemptive compliance, and would rather be seen to be needlessly held by customs for exercising his once-free speech. The questioning and delay is, one presumes, perfectly legal, as long as they don't end up mistakenly deporting him or barring re-entry. It's still stupid, mean-spirited and unnecessary, but that is the atmosphere these days. Make America Nasty Again.

Australian travellers began avoiding the US even before DFAT changed its advice, but the downturn deepened last month.

Two weeks ago, Australia's biggest travel agency, Flight Centre, downgraded its profit forecast by up to $100 million, saying developments in the US "have exacerbated the volatile trading conditions experienced throughout the year".

Its chief executive, Graham Turner, told the ABC leisure travel from Australia to the USA was down by a "reasonably significant" amount of between 7 per cent and 10 per cent in the first three months of the year.

"But in April we saw a significant downturn in leisure travel of 16 per cent and business was down about 7 per cent, compared to the same time last year," he said.

I remember it from an episode of "Alf". He had a dream sequence in which he became a famous standup comedian. One of his signature jokes was that his planet's central library burned down. It was a tragedy because they lost both books, and one of them wasn't even colored in yet.

Every time I hear or read about them, I always think of that movie the Blues Brothers. Sometimes I even think of Danny Devito in that Batman movie, and they both scare the hell out me, but they're nothing compared to the fat clown. He reminds me of those clowns from Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
