One item that did not make the list is the arrest of the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey during a protest at a newly constructed ICE facility. My understanding of this incident is he was—briefly—on the facility's grounds despite being told he should not be, and thus was trespassing. And it's still trespassing even if at the time of his arrest he was no longer in the prohibited area.

Many moons ago as a UK national entering the US you got the stub of your immigration form stapled you your passport on entry to the US and it was collected when you left the US. One time in the late '80s they forgot to collect the stub (and I didn't notice) which caused a degree of consternation six months later when I came back to the US - apparently I had never left.

What could have been quite a tricky experience was made a lot easier by the fact that I'm white and that I had a collection of other passport stamps that showed that I had entered other countries in the meantime.

No, he's being penny foolish and pound foolish. This isn't strategy, even misplaced short sighted strategy. It's an increasingly confused old man lashing out blindly at everything that's ever inconvenienced, thwarted or made him feel stupid in his entire life because deep down he thinks if he can wind back his surroundings to the 1970s he'll somehow wind himself back to how he was then too.
