Trump's Second Term

If these were normal times, I'd say that's sage advice. However, no one can predict the bottom with any degree of confidence. If I had a fifty-year timespan for my investments, I might consider buying on each dip. Historically, that's safe. But one must be prepared to wait. And there's also the possibility that all these machinations are a form of market manipulation by insiders who know what tRump will do (or who can convince him to do things). If so, then the insiders have already made their moves, and they will be the only long-term winners.

i agree. this collapse isn’t due to external short term circumstances, like covid for example. it’s poor economic and foreign policy, with potential long term circumstances. there’s no telling where it ends, and no telling if the us can return from it all. for example, what if it ends up parts of the world take yuan as a reserve currency? what if the us stock market isn’t the only major market for investment at the end?

No one talked about groceries before me. People say they think maybe I invented the word groceries. Maybe I did. A lot of people are saying I invented groceries, that groceries didn't exist before Tr*mp. That's what everyone is saying, Tr*mp invented groceries. Just the other day a grocer, that's another word I invented, I came up with while describing my other daughter, grosser, he came up to me - big grocer, strong grocer - he said "Thank you President Tr*mp for inventing groceries."

You forgot the big, strong grocer's tears.

What a bizarre rant. The Depression happened because the personal income tax was established in 1913. The Depression never would have happened if tariffs hadn't been reduced. They tried to bring tariffs back but it was too late. The Depression lasted longer than FDR's time in office.
Social media users corrected and eviscerated Trump for his bold claims. One X user shared a clip from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" in which a high school teacher explains the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act passed one year into the Great Depression in 1930. The act was meant to collect additional revenue for the U.S. government while protecting farmers and industries. Instead, it triggered a trade war and tanked the global economy. This is the president of the United States speaking!?! I feel like I'm trapped in a nightmare from which I can't wake up.

..................................Great plan.

I just read Tuberville's 'Let's give the tariffs a shot" comment. So playing Russian Roulette with the US economy is just fine. TUberville is the biggest moron in the Senate.
What is going on in congress is why I am such a strong advocate of term limits on congress critters. If they knew they could not make a lifetime career of being in congress, they might not be so obssesed with getting reelected.
Should have been "Let's get shot of tariffs".

They really are falling in line by trying to sound as stupid and outlandish as their Führer. It's just incredible to behold.

our beef is beautiful and theirs is weak

This is exactly like Schitler, using senseless adjectives. Like when Schitler says he made "a perfect call." He talks like a three-year-old!

Just read an article that said that although Wisconsin got the headlines, the Florida votes is what should really concern the GOP.
Yes, they won both seats but Democrats ran a very competive race in solid red districts. Think about what that might mean for the crucial swing districts in 2026.

Why does Trump hate penguins?

A group of barren, uninhabited volcanic islands near Antarctica, covered in glaciers and home to penguins, have been swept up in Donald Trump’s trade war, as the US president hit them with a 10% tariff on goods.

Heard Island and McDonald Islands, which form an external territory of Australia, are among the remotest places on earth, accessible only via a two-week boat voyage from Perth on Australia’s west coast. They are completely uninhabited, with the last visit from people believed to be nearly 10 years ago.

Nevertheless, Heard and McDonald islands featured in a list released by the White House of “countries” that would have new trade tariffs imposed.

That's what I like about Trump. He's a detail man.
