Don't get me wrong. Trump can do a lot of damage. But despite Republican majorities in both Houses of Federal government, his influence is very much limited. Unless the Republicans eliminate the fillibuster, the Senate will hamper his ability to do anything. The Republican majority in the House is paper thin. That means a few House members can throw a monkey wrench into anything he wants to do too. And the power to say no is still a power. Then of course, the States have power.

I admit I'm trying to view all of this positively. Maybe a bit of looking at things through rose colored glasses. While Trump seems to a good job at running for President. He was ineffective in his first term. And given that his cabinet lacks experience in government, I'm betting they are going to be just as ineffective as his first cabinet.

That can't be right. That can't be right. Surely there's a document which spells out what happens under those circumstances. I mean, who becomes acting president? And how?
 
The Danish government has announced a huge boost in defence spending for Greenland, hours after US President-elect Donald Trump repeated his desire to purchase the Arctic territory.

Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said the package was a "double digit billion amount" in krone, or at least $1.5bn (£1.2bn).

Sorry but this sounds exactly like what people were saying in 2016. It wasn't Trump's legislative agenda that caused the really serious issues then either. It was the way he revealed just how fragile the supposed checks and balances in the system really were. How many time did it turn out that the rules on what the President could and couldn't do were little more than gentlemen's agreements, toothless in the face of a President who thinks he's above the law I suspect this time it won't be his supreme court picks that are the worst of it, it will be his efforts to politicize or dismantle agencies like the FCC, FAA, FDA, CDC. Once they are wrecked or transformed into little more weapons to be used against political opponents that will not be readily reversed.
Add in the tariffs, the diplomatic ineptitude, the rejection of the reality of climate change, and the Republican willingness to throw Ukraine to the wolves and its going to be a bleak four years for the USA and the rest of the world.

Additionally, in his first term Trump actually was limiting himself in what stupidity/wickedness he attempted because he was relying on getting re-elected to a second term so he could kick the can of his looming criminal convictions down the road. But now he's got his second term, all his past convictions have been negated, all current prosecutions have been ended, and he's got official immunity from the law. He has literally nothing to lose by being his absolute worst and craziest.

He also stated that the agreement had been under negotiations for weeks, and added that the fact it coinceded with trump's outburst was regrettable and entirely unintentional. I'm inclinced to believe him, as the issue of the arctic defense has been under criticism for some time now.

It may be necessary to look for new allies to defend 🇬🇱🇫🇴🇩🇰 against the 🇺🇸 narcissocracy. Do you think 🇨🇦 and 🇳🇴 might be interested?

🇵🇦 is very far away from the Arctic region, but there is already a lot of Maersk traffic in 🇵🇦.
And people in 🇵🇷 might be interested in seceding now that Trump is going to be in the White House again.
