Trump's Second Term

Rep. Lisa McClain on mass firings of federal workers: "I don't think the Americans want perfection ... you know what? Democracy is messy. I wish it was perfect. Unfortunately we don't like in a perfect world. But it is gonna take unconventional wisdom ... we don't have time to make sure that we get everything absolutely perfect"

Let's see her hold a town hall and say this directly to her constituents.

"...we don't have time to make sure that we get everything absolutely perfect"
This is the same excuse Elon Musk tried to use weeks ago in the Oval Office. He said he would make mistakes and say wrong things that should be corrected. It doesn't occur to him to slow down and do it right because he has no experience with critical systems that cannot fail without dire consequences.

And we can see the true answer, as those who commented above me have noted. This is a blitzkrieg to do as much irreparable damage as possible to the executive branch agencies before they are stopped—if they can be stopped. The damage is the point.

_____ suspended tariffs on goods imported from Mexico.

"When danger reared it's ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled..."

Goddamn stuffed-suit moron! He isn't qualified to manage a McDonald's, he'd run it into the ground!
Speaking of morons, trump has paused the tariffs on auto parts after the US auto industry complained. This shows how truly incompetent trump is. He apparently implemented the tariffs with no input from the American industries he is supposed to be helping. A leader who is experienced and intelligent -- trump is neither -- would have asked the industries first. Talked to financial people, people from the banking world. To make sure his 'idea' will work in the real world. Not trump. He gets an idea he goes with it. It was dangerous when he was a casino owner, but now, as the leader of the Free World, it can potentially be catastrophic.

U.S. President Donald Trump's 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico have sent the U.S. auto industry scrambling to plan for the massive tax on some of America's best-selling vehicles, including full-sized pickup trucks, while pinning their hopes on a potential deal in Washington....trump raised the idea of a 30-day pause on USMCA-compliant vehicles in return for expanding production in the U.S. during a call on Tuesday with GM CEO Mary Barra, Ford CEO Jim Farley, Ford executive chair Bill Ford Jr. and Stellantis chairman John Elkann, Reuters reported earlier. She's blatantly question-begging that the ketamine-fuelled chainsaw is actually doing more good than harm. Some evidence for that would be a pleasant surprise.
Not to mention that the whole DOGE thing is based on the premise that the federal government doesn't work perfectly, without some waste and abuse, and so it needs taking a chainsaw to. Maybe she should apply a little of that "we don't live in a perfect world" to her own apparent willingness to endorse extreme measures to make it one.

Unfortunately I think Trump / his cronies take on the low amount of Fentanyl seized coming from Canada is that is proof that they are not doing enough to stop it.

In other words they don't accept that a low amount seized is indicative that it's a small problem but that there's huge amounts coming through and they are just not stopping it. I'm not sure how they can be disabused of this notion or even if they are willing to be disabused.
I saw this exact thought coming from a MAGA moron's reply to a sound social media post about it. Her source was... The White House web page.

In combatting waste, there is the underlying problem of essential complexity. This is a fairly straightforward principle which states that any system will reach a point where the cost or side-effect of ameliorating something will exceed the undesirable direct effect. Here it means that you spend more money looking for waste than is actually being wasted. Therefore you don't do it unless you're willing to incur greater cost for some indirect goal.

Has it ever been suggested to the honorable representative that she go ◊◊◊◊ herself? If not, I'm proud to be the first.

Yes. And to combat the travesty I will hold up a ping pong paddle with words. That will show them, it'll show them all!

Subservient lackey to his Soviet master, you mean.

FTFY. The US has abdicated the role of leader of the free world. Turns out they'd rather be an fascist isolationist oligarchy subservient to russia, an unofficial oblast, if you will. Strange choice to make, but it's what they voted for and the rest of the world just has to respect that and move on.

During his speech the other night, Trump said "In fact, already, numerous car companies have announced that they will be building massive automobile plants in America, with Honda just announcing a new plant in Indiana, one of the largest anywhere in the world." And Honda said "We did what now?" (Link is to MeidasTouch News via MSN):

"Honda has made no such announcement and will not comment on this report,” the company said, clarifying that its long-standing approach has been to “build products close to the customer.” A Honda spokesperson further acknowledged Trump’s comments but reiterated that no new plant is in the works.

“While Honda did not announce plans for a new plant in the U.S. at this time, we have invested over $3 billion in advanced vehicle manufacturing in America in just the past three years,” the spokesperson said. The past three years would be during the Biden economy.

I guess, yeah, all politicians lie to some extent. But have we ever had a President who was so willing to lie so much and so brazenly about things that are so easily fact-checked because he knows his devoted followers either will not do or will simply disregard the fact-checking? It just seems like a whole different dynamic in politics to me when a politician can rely so completely on his base's utter disregard for not only what's true but for their own ability to find out what that actually is. He disdains his cult and gets away with it in large part because they don't even have enough self-respect to do the minimum it would take to see for themselves how they've been taken- and he knows they won't.

Kimmel gave me an idea. Could one of you good people in the US look into ways in which you can send Trump an anonymous tip that America is sending, oh say 50 Million dollars a year as rent to France? Would be interesting watching him spout that in his next press junket.
