Trump's Second Term

Ships were able to move freely through the Straits of Hormuz, until the US attacked Iran at the behest of Israel. Now Iran is suggesting there will be tolls for ships to move through the Straits. Marco Rubio is now demanding that the rest of the world do something about that. NO. The US caused the problem so you idiots solve it. If that means an embarrassing back down and defeat, so be it. That Rubio is so unaware of consequences and responsibility, is staggering. I have rarely felt hate, but by God, I seriously hate the USA. Scum.

It doesn't look like the signature we see on bills an executive orders these days. I suspect an autopen!
I think the American people should insist that he personally sign each and every Federal Reserve Note, and that he not do anything else before he's done. He can go play President *after* he finishes signing his bills.

"It is illegal under maritime and international law." Hypocrisy much?

Since when did the US recognise international or maritime law? Certainly not when they blow up civilian vessels.

"Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into!"

*sigh*

Maybe I should have seen this coming, but I honestly didn't.

Trump DOJ Refuses to Rule Out Second Amendment Right to Nuclear Weapons

Yeah. That's a pretty extreme perversion of the 2nd Amendment. To offer a very, very short summation of the Trump DOJ's argument from that article -

What is there to say? Clearly, everyone walking around with nuclear weapons (or, just grenade launchers and bazookas more immediately) for "self-defense" is just the way to go. What could possibly be wrong with that? 🤦‍♂️
So are we witnessing the birth of "the Family Atomics"?

Well it might not be Cuba, Trump's rotting brain might shift back to Greenland.
Well it was one of the bits quoted in that startlingly unguarded speech yesterday. To paraphrase very slightly:

"My allies didn't do as they were told so now I'm going to make them suffer. My new best friend better kiss my ass if he knows what's good for him. Cuba's next."

Well, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) hoped to rein in dissent among Republicans, but it didn't go entirely according to plan. When CPAC Chair Matt Schlapp asked the audience how many wanted to see impeachment hearings, he was startled to get some applause and had to quickly tell them, "That was the wrong answer." Of course at least part of it was Schlapp's foolish framing of the question. He should have asked, "Yes or no, do you want to see impeachment hearings." Then presumably the "no" vote would have drowned out the "yes" votes. Keep in mind, most of the CPAC attendees are the most faithful of MAGA, so even modest opposition to Trump is surprising. Also, looks like a heckeva lot of empty seats at the conference, indicating low enthusiasm among the base.
I think the crowd was just stupid. They are so used to being asked a rhetorical question and cheering that they didn't even register what the question actually was.

Trump getting ratty when asked about his mail-in ballot. First he says he was away, and the reporter, Liz Landers, points out he was actually in Florida so could have voted in person. He then lists the exceptions for postal votes, none of which applied to him.

I call ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ on that. One of the biggest groups pushing back against right to repair laws have been the republitraitors, with TACO front and centre.

Ehh... got specifics on what you're referring to there? In concept, Right to Repair is extremely popular with both Democrats and Republicans, with Democrats having long led the way in support. The corporate forces that benefit from restrictions, of course, have been pushing back and Republican politicians are generally far more likely to be swayed by those force, but that's not enough to call BS on that statement when support for Right to Repair laws is at "85% of Trump voters and 86% of Harris voters support the REPAIR Act" levels as of not too long ago.

Perhaps more of note can be derived from an assessment like this one.

Right to Repair Tech Begins to Feel the Effect of Trump Policies and Tariffs

Really short summation? The Trump Administration has supported Right to Repair in a deregulation policy sense, while enacting various measures that make it harder and more expensive to actually do in practice. Pretty much par for the course for the decent things that Republicans claim to support, really. It is a little different than the Republican norm for stuff like Trump's "No Tax on Tips" where the main effect would be to benefit the rich while pretending to be about helping lower income people (while the Democratic Party's version would have primarily helped lower income people who actually needed it far more), though. Both lines fall under crap being delivered wrapped in nice wrapping paper, though.

You can have a Bazooka or Grenade. They are classified as 'Destructive Devices'.
Pay the tax, clear the background check and be wealthy enough to afford one.

Fair enough. I was more poking at the "everyone should have them for self-defense" narrative that's long been pushed in response to gun crime, either way. Individuals with guns tend to be safer on average, while society as a whole becomes less safe by a notably smaller amount, either way. Everyone having them for self-defense means that everyone is much, much less safe, even if having a gun makes them more safe than they would be without it on a personal level. The more powerful the weapon, the more pronounced the effect in both ways.

As a small request, please direct that at the culprits and their supporters, rather than the country as a whole. Republicans and Democrats have an almost equal split in the US, after all, and hating on the massive chunk of people who are also pointedly opposing the madness isn't really helpful.

It's not all of us, just a few very powerful people -- go ahead and despise them and the people who voted for them. The rest of us have some common sense and decency.
