Trump's Second Term

Donald on Canada becoming a state again. With the tariffs and no subsidy from the USA Canada isn't a viable country.
Trump is a deluded moron. These tarriffs will hurt Americans and the rest of the world. Basically a world economic suicide pact.

Tariffs never bring prices down because the domestic manufacturers immediately raise their prices to match or juuuust undercut the imported tariffed prices of their competitors. Capitalism demands every cent be squeezed out of the consumer.

and that’s for tariffs targeted at specific goods that american companies can compete with. what’s worse is tariffing products we don’t have the production capacity for. you’ll be buying foreign at 125% when there’s no american alternative, and the limited capacity american alternatives will raise prices due to the increased demand while you supplement with foreign.

I sure that "THE RESULTS WILL BE SPECTACULAR", just not in the way that he, and the MAGA supporters are expecting.

Then again maybe other countries will roll over and submit to these bully boy tactics.
Doesn't look that way. The rest of the world has viewed America as economic bullies for half a century. They will certainly retaliate. America will become another failed Trump enterprise. But of course he'll never be held accountable.

Someone posted a diagram that shows Musk tweeting pretty much 24/7, only pausing for about 3-4 hours, presumably to sleep. If he doesn't have 'ghostwriters' to help troll X for him, then he's just up and at it around the clock, with next to no sleep. I guess he just assumes all of his underlings will do likewise. Quite possibly with the assistance of stimulating drugs.
Musk is not well. May not last long in power. https://www.threads.net/@esa55jarvi...QGzxiiK46R3y5k5SIaUGA5l83zz0ldodAGOyaAujaAvQA

I'm a bit lazy to go through all the EO's, too. With that said, I don't think I saw anything about USAID included, as one of the many horrible things that are getting left behind in the flood of other horrible things to report upon.

As a recent development there - USAID website goes offline in Trump administration’s 2-week-old freeze on foreign aid worldwide

There's a lot that can be said about how USAID has been an excellent tool to aid diplomacy efforts and increase the US' soft power, to keep the US safe by reducing negative emotions towards the US, to reduce the causes of terrorism and chaos worldwide, and so on.

That rather makes it all the more worthy of concern when, for example...

Trump Admin Forces Out USAID Official Who Refused to Comply With 'Illegal' Purge
A career official at the U.S. Agency for International Development said he was placed on leave after refusing an order to "violate the due process of our employees."

How much of that involves this claim by Stephan Miller is uncertain, incidentally -

That's an exceedingly implausible claim, from the start, really, though it is possible. Trump and the forces that he stands for are pretty much actively hostile to what USAID works to do, after all, including things like actually reducing terrorism, and USAID employees realizing en masse that both they and what they value are in the crosshairs if the vile criminal won isn't a stretch at all.
Just out of curiosity, maybe our resident Trump voters explain how it became illegal to have a political opinion when working for the US government?
Or is it just the land of the Free when you follow the Trump line?

I'm sure that The Party is cooking up more laws to make voting harder to do, unless you are a wealthy, white person.
They'll make a totally fair test. Any white male will have to demonstrate literacy by reading a page from See Spot Run. Everybody else will have to read Thucydides Pelopneasian War in the original Greek and then translate it into English in writing inside ten minutes.

Can't get any less discriminatory than that.

Trump 2.0 cannot be stopped - Republicans are too invested and scared, and Trump will keep the Super Rich sweet. He is perfectly willing to use any violence to crush peaceful protests and strikes.

The best thing to do is to make these fascists work for every gain, never acquiesce in advance and document everything they do.
Then, if an overwhelming majority of pissed off voters get rid of the regime, prosecute everyone who supported them with extreme prejudice and take all their assets - it's the only way they might learn for a while.
To be honest, given the sheer idiocy and self destructiveness of the tarrifs, I don't think he will. Yes there'll be window lickers like Galaxy Brain Musk who'll stay loyal, but any oligarch with three braincells to rub together should be experiencing a creeping sense of cold horror right about now.

They can weather it. They're salivating over the carnage they will be able to pick through once everyone's crashed and burned.
