To be fair, even if the tariffs weren't there, the Trump Administration did many other things that screwed over those farmers, just like they did in Trump's previous term, so they might well need similar support anyways, just like in Trump's previous term.
The real issue is why so many farmers would actually believe that Trump was on their side after he screwed them over so hard during his first term, and why so many fairly certainly still think that, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
