Trump's Second Term

I was ready for the lawlessness, the evil, the smashing of the administrative state, the mad grasping of power, etc. That I expected.

Was not expecting the incompetence to set in this early. The Reich-wing has been planning for this for years! Did they not once ask, “What would actually happen if we do X? How would that work?” I mean, they were supposed to have smart people thinking this stuff through this time around. What were the Project 2025 people actually doing? Now it is the same incompetent, destructive evil we had the first time around, just bigger.
The incompetence is baked in from the start in all these regimes, unquestioning loyalty to the führer coupled with murderous hatred to your peers and subordinates are the two cardinal personality traits of all authoritarian regimes.

There's a semi-famous question on history fora which goes "when did the nazis lose WW2?" Taking the totality of the regime into account, the correct answer is 30/01/1933. The nazis incompetence was at full blast from day 1 then, as it is now.

Given that Galaxy Brain's more of a Rudolf Hess, the title doesn't fit.
Frankly, I wish everyone would stop referring to people by their own pet name and use their actual names. I'm not as cognitively sharp as I use to be, and keeping track of all the pet names is starting to get tedious.

Sen. Heidi Campbell (D) of Tennessee posted on social media: "We passed a bill in committee yesterday that felonizes elected officials if they vote against Trump's immigration policy. Duly elected officials will go to jail if they do not support Trump's policies" (I've left out a few words that are not relevant to the gist). This article explains in more detail.

And the bald* moron is speaking about the plane/helicopter crash, and throwing blame at Obama and Biden hiring mentally handicapped people as air traffic controllers...

*One plus side to today's yammering is, his hair isn't it's usual perfectly weird self, and you can see vast shinny gaps in his trademark 'weave' .

The Guardian's running text coverage had this bit, which summed it up pretty well
It’s the first test of Trump’s second term in the role of consoler-in-chief, one that Ronald Reagan played after the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, Bill Clinton often performed with aplomb and Biden delivered with characteristic empathy. What could go wrong?
