The US has established as doctrine that the military can assassinate threats to the security of the US including when that person is a US citizen, but is resident overseas with no option to detain them. Also whent the threat are non US citizens in international waters where there is an option to detain. It would seem only a small slip on the slippery slope to designate US citizens in the US as national security threats and have the military eliminate them.

There is really no point in Democrats seeking asylum in Canada or elsewhere, once you are designated a national security threat your number is up* and in real life Finch and Reese aren't going to stop your elimination.

* Almost certainly the use of AI for identifying national security threats by their signatures is happening, certainly the IDF are using it. The vast majority of drone attacks conducted by the U.S. have been signature strikes – strikes that target “groups of men who bear certain signatures, or defining characteristics associated with terrorist activity, but whose identities aren’t known.” In 2010, for example, Reuters reported that of the 500 “militants” killed by drones between 2008 and 2010, only 8% were the kind “top-tier militant targets” or “mid-to-high-level organizers” whose identities could have been known prior to being killed. Similarly, in 2011, a U.S. official revealed that the U.S. had killed “twice as many ‘wanted terrorists’ in signature strikes than in personality strikes.” Elimination or deportation to a Black site will be cheaper than protracted legal action. Soros and Gates may find their assets seized by the US, almost certainly it will be posible to prove they have funding links to anti-American activities like vaccine research, pro-choice clinics etc.

The Trade deficit, which does not "cost" anything to us in a normal sense, is apparently a feature. Trump would not undestrand any better than transgenic mice.
To supply the world with dollars, the US must run trade deficits. That is to say it must buy more than it sells. Persistent trade deficits have, over time, eroded its industrial base. Factories and jobs have gone offshore. Foreign nations have used their profits to invest in US capital markets and its debt. Meanwhile financial markets - aka Wall Street - have grown and grown, as America financialized.
