Trump's Second Term

Trump says his Changing the name of the Defense Department sounde like victory. Victory over who?
I don;t think we are at open war with anybody at the moment...though I have sick feeling that will change.
I alwayas though Trump would get us into a war because people of this whole emotional and psychological makeup, when in positions of power, always do.

Trump says his Changing the name of the Defense Department sounde like victory. Victory over who?
Victory over woke.
Victory over DEI.
Victory over trans-genderism.
Victory over women.
Victory over vaccines.
Victory over science.
Victory over immigrants.
Victory over native Americans.
Victory over Mexico.
Victory over Canada.
Victory over Denmark.
Victory over Europe.
Victory over a free press.
Victory over universities.
Victory over law firms who defend any of the above.
Victory over courts that rule any of the above have legal rights.

With so much winning, that list is surely incomplete.

I also have to comment that the opinion you are speakking about is a wonderful excuse for sitting on your butt and doing nothing about a critical situation.
Frankly, a lot of comments like the one being discussed are posturing, more then anything else. Being as gloomy and pessimistic as possible is consiered to be cool and sophisticated in certain circles

Not the circles a single female pensioner living in a traditionally conservative part of Britain moves in, I assure you. And there's ◊◊◊◊ all I can do about the situation in the US, regardless of my opinion of its causes.

As a life long socialist, until recently I lived in what I can only describe in retrospect as a state of mindless optimism. I never doubted that social progress would continue, that the gap between rich and poor would gradually reduce, that civilisation would eventually triumph over animal instincts like tribalism and greed. Now I look around the world, see what my generation - the hippy generation - has actually achieved, and wonder why I ever had such faith in humanity. I'm sorry if my occasional venting upsets you, but this is the only place I can do it.

The POSOTUS has one of those Glade Air Fresheners in his room on a timer that spritzes every morning. It's filled with Eau de Napalm.

US hasn't won a war since the name was changed to the Woke Department of Defence!

Hegseth: After winning a war for Independence in 1789, George Washington established the war department. This country won every major war after that. To include World War I and World War II. Total victory. !50 years after that, we changed the name. We haven’t won a major war since.

What strikes me about all the people in the Trump administration is that they are such brilliant thinkers and analysts; no one else has ever realised that the US lost the war in Vietnam, for instance, because the defense departement wasn't called the departement of war. You need great thinkers, such as DJT, Pete Hegseth et al, to understand such complicated matters.

Thank you. You are describing me. The only difference is that since mindless is my default state, I'm still clinging on to my optimism... It is becoming very difficult to do so, however, since the world seems to be conspiring to make me let go.

Victory over everyone apart from Donald J Trump.

It's at least *somewhat* plausible that Trump was an FBI informant on Epstein. He obviously would not volunteer any personal info out of the goodness of his heart, but if he himself was at risk of being implicated, he could offer a lot of inside info to investigators that would enable them to fully prove Epstein's guilt, in return for immunity. That would have been a deal done involving just a handful of people with complete confidentiality. Trump is fond of deals, after all. It would certainly explain his reluctance for full release of the files, because in them he would be named as an informant, not as a possible co-conspirator. (and obviously he would be a redacted name on the list) But if was revealed that he was an informant, then that begs the question of what he knew and how he knew it. Trump obviously would not want that can of worms opened.

Not to mention that he likes to imagine himself a Wise Guy, he wouldn't want the real crooks he admires to know he was a rat.

Well yes. That was intended as the joke.. Obvs didn't land.
From Northenden to Partington it's rain
From Altrincham to Chadderton it's rain
From Moss Side to Swinton hardly Spain
It's a picture postcard of "wish they never came"

And whilst that deckchair in the garden it makes no sense
It doesn't spoil the view or cause offence
Those Floridas, Bavarias and Kents
Make gentlemen wear shorts but don't make gents

So convertible stay garage-bound
Save after-sun for later
If rain makes Britain great
Then Manchester is greater
As you dry your clothes once again
Upon the radiator
What makes Britain great
Makes Manchester yet greater

From Cheetham Hill to Wythenshawe it's rain
Gorton, Salford, Sale pretty much the same
As I'm caught up without my jacket once again
The raindrops on my face play a sweet refrain

And as winter turns reluctantly to spring
For the clouds above the city there's one last fling
Swallows build their nests, chaffinch sing
And the sun strolls into town like long lost king

And the mood of this whole sudden place is melancholy
Like the sun came out to play, shone through the clouds
But dropped its lolly
And everyone looks so disappointed, so, so sorry
Like the rain blew into town, kidnapped the sun
And stole its brolly

Serious question. I believe that Gavin Newsom has shown that smart ridicule is the best weapon to use against Trump. Why haven’t Democrat leaders and politicians adopted this strategy en masse? It works and only really upsets rusted on MAGAs, but pisses off Trump royally. Gloves off guys.
