Trump's Second Term

That's only what he wants you to believe. Oddly.

The reality is it's an excuse. He doesn't wear a seatbelt because the law says he must wear a seatbelt. DC's seatbelt mandate was passed by Democrats. He can no more use this simple safety device than a vampire can touch a crucifix. He would simply burst into flames. The mere thought of obeying an order from Democrats repels him.

Then the Democrats should go in really vocally on speed limits, drink driving and not putting large, barbed metal spikes on your steering wheel hubs then driving blindfolded.

I absolutely agree, but from legal position, I wonder if Epstein's claim can be verified. Hunter might lose an expensive lawsuit if he can't prove that Epstein really said it.
The chance of hunter Biden losing a lawsuit to Melanie and stubby mcbonespurs is pretty much nil, for a few reasons...

- Melanie and Trump are public figures. That means the burden to win a case by the plaintiffs is higher (due to the fact they have to prove hunter acted "with malice", meaning for example he knew the statements were wrong)

- hunter made his claims with the statement "according to the author Wolfe"... So he can point to an individual who is well known and relatively reputable as a source

- any lawsuit will result in depositions, where it is possible Melanie and stubby have to sit for questioning, something the Trump administration would probably want to avoid becaustit would drag Epstein/Trump into the spotlight again

- Melanie would have to show how she was harmed, which might be tough to do. "Yeah, we hung out with Epstein, got photographed together multiple times, etc., but we were not introduced by him" seems like a weird hill to die on

'Completely lost the leverage': Big law firms that cut deals with Trump now ignoring him

Even though President Donald Trump's administration secured promises from some of the nation's biggest law firms to contribute more than $1 billion worth of pro bono work to further the administration's goals, the White House is now reportedly having a hard time getting some of those firms to follow through on their promises.

According to a Thursday report in the Wall Street Journal, many of those promises law firms made to perform free legal services have already been broken. This could be partially due to the success that firms who have sued in response to Trump's executive orders targeting them have had in court, with the Journal reporting that all four firms that fought back have so far prevailed. And firms that haven't fulfilled their commitments are reportedly hoping the administration will be too distracted with the work of governing to follow through on threats to suspend security clearances, federal contracts and access to federal buildings.

The Journal reported that the firms that agreed to help Trump only typically perform between $4 million and $5 million worth of pro bono work per year, meaning that in order to fulfill some of those commitments — like the firm Skadden's $100 million promise — it would take decades. And because Trump will leave office in January of 2029, many firms likely aren't taking their commitment to his administration seriously.

The paper further reported that far-right groups who have inundated the firms with requests for legal assistance have so far been stiff-armed. This includes the far-right Heritage Foundation (which is responsible for the notorious Project 2025 playbook), which has asked for help but has yet to receive any outside of initial meetings with some attorneys.

Umm... I think that this deserves a little more in the way of comment because it's a strange thing to rely upon. This is the Trump Administration. The work of governing isn't really a priority. As was demonstrated last time, even when there were adults reining in Trump's worst impulses to some extent, the general philosophy was that "Government doesn't work." Now, without even those adults there, it's guaranteed to be much worse. With that said, hoping in distractions is somewhat reasonable, but more from Republican manufactured chaos and MAGA incompetence than governing.

I can’t listen to Trump talking about “our very great meeting” any longer. He has announced that he and Putin have agreed to a lot of things, which I’m sure he will not specify and he will tell Zelenskyy about them.

There is no doubt he will walk away, having sold the Ukraine down the river and the war continuing.

No deal reached.

Trump and Putin leave Alaska after no deal reached in Ukraine talks

  • Donald Trump says "there's no deal until there's a deal" but progress was made in Ukraine talks with Vladimir Putin - watch the latest at the top of the page
  • "We didn't get there," he says in an update to the press after their almost three-hour meeting in Alaska - here are the key lines
  • Putin says he is "sincerely interested" in putting an end to the conflict, but did not give further details. The presidents did not take questions from the press

WTF? It's all a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ dog-and-pony show! How much carbon was added to global warming by this idiocy? You can't ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ meet by Signal like your underlings do? They tell everyone how safe and secure it is!

Why don't you both choke on a bag of elephant dicks?!
