You would think if this were true he would encourage more undocumented farm workers, since the death of aliens like that is his joy.
Honestly I don't think Trump cares about illegal immigration much. I mean, he'd celebrate the death of anyone he deems unsightly, but he's not a complete dunce, he called on ICE to leave farms, hotels, restaurants and meat-processing plants alone. Maybe construction sites will be next.
I couldn't remember the name of Trump's ghoulish sidekick so I Googled that and of course Stephen Miller's dead-eyed mug came up. At times some conservatives will say they have no problem with legal immigration but amongst themselves, or at least on conservative Reddit, I'd say more than half want to get rid of legal immigration as well.
Trump is playing out a drama with his power to announce tariffs and quotas, but Miller is the one who is deadly serious about ethnic cleansing. However, ICE's clear failure to prioritize actual criminals over people who've just had some bad luck is, I think, going to have an impact.
I still don't know why so many "conservatives" are obsessed with people jumping the queue. I admire some immigrants for saying, **** it, I'm finding a better life for my family, it's worth the risk." It's not that coming legally is inconvenient; it's very close to impossible. Even talking about seasonal labor stirs up a fuss with many conservative folks. John McCain once said something very similar to Trump, when asked why Americans weren't "being given" these job opportunities. He said, "My friend, you couldn't do it."
And yet, I did see one cogent argument on r/conservative: I may feel badly for the people being kicked out, but we're always going to be slamming the door in
someone's deserving face. Even if Americans could all agree on a safe word to call justice for people who, for example, were brought here as children, or who have worked here 20 years and kept their noses clean, if we keep "the good ones" who have put down roots, started businesses, etc. - there is a cutoff time period, and it's not going to be yesterday.
What will happen, imo, if conservatives continue to get their unfettered wishes, is that America will soon be a lot less appealing. I actually don't think this is Trump's personal wish. But it plays so well with his public ... in fact they could hire some actors or use AI footage showing lots of sad brown people being treated like ****. Then make up some "statistics" and many "conservatives" will lap it all up.
