Trump's Second Term

Tuberville on Chinese college students who study in the US: "This is ridiculous ... they leave their visa on time and they'll go back home, but they take everything they possibly can with them in terms of anything that they learn."

He's alarmed that the Chinese students who pay to attend US universities may be learning stuff there, and then going home without forgetting it all at passport control as they depart? It's a scandal.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History has removed all references to Donald Trump’s two impeachments from its presidential impeachment exhibit—following direct pressure from the White House, according to multiple credible sources.

The previous exhibit included Trump alongside Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton. But as of July 2025, that reference is gone. The updated display now claims that “only three presidents have seriously faced removal”—completely erasing Trump from one of the most consequential chapters of modern political history.

Museum insiders say the change was part of a broader content “review” initiated after Trump’s team pressured the Smithsonian, threatened museum leadership, and pushed for ideological purges across federal cultural institutions.

Well blackmail is his forte. And he can’t be prosecuted. When will the US wake up and do something about this ◊◊◊◊?

Rewriting history by threatening its custodians. Stalin's ghost nods approval.

His boss's idea of going to university is "You buy your way in. Pay someone to sit the exams. Leave without learning a thing."

Or, to put it another way, thanks to Trump's incessant meddling, in just 6 months US businesses have had to pay the government an extra $150B in taxes to import the stuff they then sell on to you. Do you imagine that's consequence-free magic money?

The seamless transition from "we're going to do 90 deals in 90 days" to "we're just sending out a bunch of demand letters which are the equivalent of deals"

Trade representative Jamieson Greer: "These are the highest level of tariffs that we've seen. And this is a great deal for the country ... his view is maybe a tariff is better than a deal."

Apparently the EU, like Japan and Korea is giving Donald hundreds of billions to 'invest' as he sees fit.
That's more than the EU economy.
There is no trade deal with the EU. Just a framework for discussion. Nothing has been considered yet by the EU Parliament.

Leavitt: I do have an update on our EU trade deal. It is not $60 billion in investments, it is $600 billion in investments

Next week it'll be $600 trillion! We'll replace windmills by burning money!

Look at all this winning!
One look at the map and aside from anything else, I think it was assembled either by a saboteur or someone incredibly stupid, or the printing seen here is purposely messed up. Do you notice the problem?
There are four shades shown on the legend, and five on the map. The US is shaded the same as Mexico, Canada, and Russia, as if our own stuff was tariffed.

e.t.a. and while we're at it, if you want a bit of insight into what the tariffs are likely most about, look at Madagascar. I think the only thing the US wants from Madagascar is mineral resources, which are of importance to our economy, and which cannot in any way be sourced locally. A tariff is supposed to discourage importation and incentivize local production, but here we have a scenario in which the likeliest outcome is that we will continue to import the vital minerals they produce, and the US citizens will pay more for them. Or, if the tariffs are damaging enough, and imports are reduced, the cost will be shared with some of the poorest people on earth, and if efforts are made to economize on their end, the other victim will be the fragile and rapidly worsening environment of Madagascar itself. Win win win, drill baby drill.

that this sort of thing is going on while Trump is alive and in charge is not surprising. (He's got firm control of the administration and republicans in congress are his MAGAchud bootlickers...)

My question is... what happens when he is no longer around. Will future republican presidents start to have second thoughts and try to distance themselves from this brand of nonsense, or will they continue to try to sweep his misdeeds under the rug? Are we going to have schools named after Trump? Will there be a USS Trump aircraft carrier?

What is next? Remove slavery from the Smithsonian?

The exhibit now says that “only three presidents have seriously faced removal,” referring to Johnson, Nixon, and Clinton.

The exhibit now looks the way it did in 2008.
