Those of us who fail to fact check gladly stop sharing incorrect information as soon as it's pointed out.

You only got a little pushback because the woman being taken away by ICE did resemble a kid dressed for school.

I think there are a few other videos linked in the thread that happened but were older/irrelevant/misattributed to ICE, which were quickly pointed out (ie the Target security guard, a different zip tie incident) but I'm not aware of any that were AI.

If we can get links to each example, the mods could probably put a box on them with a fact check.

Andy_Ross posted a video of a woman being arrested for "asking directions." I dug up the full video online and that is not what happened. I posted it here, instead of the "skeptics" saying, "yeah, that's not what happened," all I got was "Bwahahaha orange man bad - derp - maga bad - derp!"

In the preTrump era, even the partisans on this site would have shredded that edited video.

He posted 2 more a few weeks back. One said "tow truck driver arrested for accidentally towing ICE vehicle." That's not what happened. The tow truck driver video recorded himself backing up to the ICE vehicle with it's emergency lights on, a 2nd ICE vehicle with it's emergency lights on and several ICE agents arresting an illegal, was directly in front of the vehicle he picked up. In the video he bragged about what he was doing, knowingly.

The other video claims that 7 legal workers, some of whom were citizens, were arrested at a carwash. Everyone arrested was here illegally.

You think anybody else bothered to fact check those videos?

It's an unfortunate fact that people of all affiliations tend to trust and share things that look believable to them. No group is immune to that. I'm glad this group is amenable to being fact checked. No need for a hair shirt when nobody is doubling down on or continuing to share misinfo after it's been pointed out.
