Trump's promised ICE raids have begun

My German sister-in-law is going home to visit family later this month. I'm hoping she's allowed back in the country. She may have gotten a parking ticket 20 years ago, after all.

Phillip: What about the people like that man in the video who are not here illegally at all? He has legal status.

Ungar-Sargon: According to DHS, he did not listen to their instructions

Phillip: According to him, he was showing them his REAL ID.

Jennings: That doesn’t matter. Illegal immigrants get IDs all the time.

Phillip: You cannot get a REAL ID unless you have documentation

Jennings: How do they know it was his?

Phillip: Why not just look at the REAL ID to determine if it belongs to him as opposed to shattering his window?

Jennings: If I was pulled over and the police gave me instructions and I didn’t follow them, what would happen to me?

What could go wrong?

WORCESTER – Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25.

Three U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) attorneys, including one assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the district of Massachusetts, one to the district of Rhode Island office, and the third posted at an office in New York told This Week in Worcester they received briefings on the plan.

The attorney in the Massachusetts office said that they attend a Baptist church in Massachusetts and is a registered Republican. He said that he does not see how this plan is in line with either American values or Biblical doctrine.

The attorney in the Rhode Island office confirmed both the briefing and internal discussions about the legal issues surrounding arrests at churches over the past three month

WATCH THIS: An ICE/Border Patrol agent, once again, illegally detains and interrogates a U.S. citizen… on camera.

In this video, an ICE agent is seen holding a man’s driver’s license hostage while repeatedly demanding to know where he was born.

The man calmly says, over and over: “I’m an American citizen.”

But the agent refuses to accept the answer… because this is how ICE tries to manufacture “probable cause” when they don’t actually have any.

Here’s why what this agent did is unlawful:

1. ICE can ask immigration questions… but they cannot detain you without reasonable suspicion.

Once the agent has the man’s license and isn’t letting the interaction end, that’s not voluntary anymore.

ICE cannot detain anyone unless they have reasonable suspicion the person is removable.

He clearly didn’t.

2. You do NOT have to answer “where were you born?”

Citizens and non-citizens alike can refuse to answer.

Your birthplace is private information, not a magic password for ICE.

3. ICE has databases. They can verify citizenship without badgering people.

Agents often push this question because they want the person to slip up or panic.

A “verbal admission” makes their job easy…even if it’s false.

This is why they keep pressing even after hearing “I’m a citizen.” And why it is important to not answer their questions.

4. This is coercion, not procedure.

Holding someone’s ID while interrogating them is not a routine check.

It’s an unlawful seizure under the Fourth Amendment.

5. ICE’s own rules forbid racial profiling.

Yet, here we are again: a citizen being treated as “suspicious” because of how he looks, not because of anything he did.

Bottom line:

This man did EVERYTHING right. He asserted his citizenship. He stayed calm.
The only person breaking the law in this video is the ICE agent.

And if this is how they treat a citizen, imagine what they do to people who can’t film it.

Nonsense it was just a case of racial profiling something the supreme court condoned for them to do. Why are you trying to pretend that this is not exactly how republican voters wanted to happen? They are harassing all the non white people and that is what trump was elected to do.

False Dichotomy.
