Hmm. Standoff between noisy protesters and the cosplay SA. Then the Chicago PD turn up in their shirtsleeves, walks between the two sides and everything calms the hell down straight away. Remarkable what professionals can do. But then the side who brought teargas remember and start using it.

Although the reporter thinks protesters start to throw rocks, it looks more like the cosplay SA start lobbing teargas canisters. There are a couple of objects thrown in from somewhere off to the right by people we don't see. It's not clear what those are but the one we see hit a cop's ankle doesn't bounce like a rock would (or indeed break his ankle like a rock would) it just sort of lies there.

Maybe it was a sandwich.

Or maybe it was out of uniform SA-ICE personnel throwing foam rocks as agents provocateur.
