Trump's nickname.

I just heard a good one. But not for Dozer Don.

Moscow Marjorie Taylor Greene

I still find it funny that "trump" is Brit slang for "fart".

I'd love to say thats why we never took him seriously, but the real reason for his unpopularity in the UK is that he was such an obvious utter **** and conman.

We found (and still find) it bewildering that a large proportion of Americans apparently couldn't see that.

Yeah, that messed me up for a while too.

Most likely because I hadn't heard it since I was a wee bairn.

I can remember my brother and I trying to learn how to play bridge:

"Three no trumps" (Lots of schoolboy sniggering or worse, trumping.)

YOU find it bewildering? I live here and, to borrow a Brit term, I'm gob smacked at it. Then...I remember just how stupid some people are.

I wonder if any bridge players had any difficulty after a certain point in history playing without wincing when they made a certain type of bid. Or any other game that uses that word.

It is? First I’ve heard of it. It mustn’t be common usage.

In my experience, usually used by children rather than adults.

Which must have made school days a bit annoying for snooker player Judd Trump (who's through to the next round in the 2024 World Championship :)).

I think that's the more likely reason for why people are seen looking disgusted with him than the currently popular alleged reason mentioned by many sources:

I recently watched the first episode of TV's The Green Hornet (with Bruce Lee!). The antagonist in that show was named "Trump". I plan to do some .wav extracts from that one someday.
