Cont: Trump’s Coup - Part 2

Some GOP conggressmen are going to stage a protest tommorow over the treatment of arrested coup insurrrectionist. Oh, the Irony.

Great idea, I encourage it. Can't wait to see this on the news along with all their names. Should look good on their resumes.

Yeah, I can't believe how those peaceful tourists on a regular Capitol tour are being treated! You'd think they'd attacked the police with pepper/bear spray, baseball bats and flag poles, put them in the hospital, broken into the Capitol, looted it, and caused damage! Thank goodness there's plenty of videos showing otherwise!

If they're from safe, red districts/states then it'll have no impact on their likelihood of being re-elected and it may enhance their fundraising capacity. :(

Slavish support for Donald Trump and the "big steal" is now de rigeur in the GOP these days.

Why yes...yes it is. If you wish, you can go and whinge in the thread about the BLM protests. This has been already addressed there.

It is probably a misnomer to call them "BLM" protests, tbh. It is more about an amalgamation of last year's unrest, and the relative costs to property and life, when compared to the Capitol riot.

No...also...go and discuss it there. Thsi is about the attempted coup inspired by the marmalade turd.

No it isn't and why it isn't has alrready been discussed ad nauseum and for you to bring it up here again is not classy either. In fact it is juvenile.

Since I made the mistake of going to DeSantis' website, I'm being inundated with right wing crap emails. The latest is from Rudy Giuliani's "Freedom Fund" site where he's begging for money to fight the 'huge injustice' being done to him. It's the DEEP STATE going after him! What a joke:

Friend,
You may truly be my only hope.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’m fighting for my freedom.
At 6:00 in the morning, there was a loud BANG outside my door. 7 FBI agents presented a warrant to raid my apartment and seize electronic devices from my home.
The Deep State is on a mission to take down every single one of President Trump’s closest allies -- and that puts me at the top of the list.
Because I know you’ve been a loyal ally of our movement as well, I’m turning to you at this dire moment to help protect me from the Deep State’s war on my rights and freedom.
Please make a contribution to the Rudy Giuliani Freedom Fund to protect me as I fight for my freedom and justice.

While many Republicans walked away from President Trump at the first sign of a fight, I NEVER wavered.
I stood by the President’s side throughout his toughest battles:
Two baseless impeachment trials
The Russia witch hunt
Exposing the Biden Family’s corruption
Uncovering election fraud

You see, we were on a mission to drain the swamp and put the American people first. We knew that the Deep State forces would try to destroy us.
But we didn’t care. The fight to save America was a fight worth waging.
Unfortunately, now that Biden and Kamala have seized control of the White House and have weaponized the FBI and DOJ, the swamp is REVOLTING by placing a bull’s eye on the backs of every Trump loyalist who had the guts to challenge the Deep State.
I’m hoping you’ll stand up for me now that the Deep State has placed a bull’s eye on my back.
CONTRIBUTE TO DEFEND RUDY

As Alan Dershowitz wisely pointed out, “In banana republics, in … many parts of the world, when a candidate loses for president, they go after the candidate, they go after his lawyers, they go after his friends… That’s happening in America now. They’re going after Rudy Giuliani.” *
That’s why this is so important, Friend.
This battle is not just about me or any of President Trump’s other allies who are being ruthlessly targeted by the Deep State.
We need to face the uncomfortable fact that if the Deep State can do this to a former president’s confidante who did nothing wrong, then one day, they could do it to you.
My fate will determine if America still is a Republic governed by We The People, or if the swamp has finally amassed total control of our great country.
That's why I urgently need YOUR help as I battle for my freedom and justice.
Please make a contribution to the Rudy Giuliani Freedom Fund to protect me as I fight for my freedom and justice.

Thank you,

Rudy Giuliani

*Did Giuliani just admit that Trump lost? LOL The plea ends with picture of him taken at least 30 years ago.
Seriously?? They are stooping so low as to trying the "Nigerian Prince" scam now?

No, he claims Biden has 'occupied' the White House.

“In banana republics, in … many parts of the world, when a candidate loses for president, they go after the candidate, they go after his lawyers, they go after his friends… That’s happening in America now."

I was being facetious. But Giuliani's poor choice of a quote actually says "when a candidate loses for president," ;which is saying Trump lost.

I have not been keeping up with the thread, so if this has already been discussed, please let me know and I'll go digging.

Can anyone explain to me how Trump supporters can look at footage from that day and rationalize that it not only wasn't an insurrection but to call it an insurrection is both laughable and a bad faith argument? Is there a rationalization or is it merely an article of faith at this point?

I know, right? It's not like these people created over $1B in losses, or anything. Oh wait, wrong cause.

:D

You have got to be freaking kidding me. What you are doing is downplaying what happened on Jan. 6 just like certain GOP members of Congress and Donald Trump. The BLM...or whatever you think it should be called...protests were not about attacking our very democracy, the integrity of our elections, and attempting a coup. Shame on you.

Why yes...yes it is. If you wish, you can go and whinge in the thread about the BLM protests. This has been already addressed there.

He's attempting to downplay and misdirect. "Oh, people mostly peacefully protesting racism and the looting that took place almost exclusively after dark and by opportunists taking advantage of the situation is worse than what happened on Jan. 6!"

I'm watching the testimony of the police who were attacked on Jan. 6 and attempting to compare the two events disgusts me beyond words. I'm surprised he didn't describe it as a 'loving' crowd who were just 'tourists'.

As Off. Michael Fanone testified today before the Jan. 6 Commission:

DC Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone said during testimony at the select committee hearing, adding those who are denying what happened that day "betray their oath of office."

"I feel like I went to hell and back to protect them and the people in this room, but too many are now telling me that hell doesn't exist, or that hell actually wasn't that bad. The indifference shown to my colleagues is DISGRACEFUL," Fanone said, slamming his fist on the table.

Easy: party before country and their own self-interest before country. Oh...and cowardice.

:D

It's Only wrong when Libs do it!

I mean, people protesting for the right not to be shot and abused based on skin color is much worse than armed insurrectionists trying to overturn a fair and just election so that The Chosen One can return to power!
