Just to add to my above, though...this is what Biden actually said (Mediaite):

It's true Biden compared the tactics of Cruz, Hawley, and Trump to the tactics of the Nazis; whether that counts as calling his opponents "literal Nazis" is questionable at best, I think. It's certainly not in the league of literally calling people you oppose anarchists, terrorists, and Marxists- in fact, I'd say that, compared to Cruz's words, Biden's are pretty bush league as "vicious partisan rhetoric."

And they say the Dems "do nothing!" It would seem that sometimes indeed they hardly have to do anything in order to get stuff happening.

Attempting to overthrow the government is a Treasonous act by definition.

Federal law specifies Captial Punishment as the consequence for the act.

And who are you to tell me what I should want the media to cover. Justice done in secret is not justice. We used to have public executions for a reason.

If its politics are Nazi and it's mannerisms are Nazi, and it's results are Nazi, it's Nazi. It passes the "duck test".

Godwin's Law is just rhetorical BS designed to tie up the opposition.

I don't want healing. I want justice. Justice means full prosecution of the Trump regime for all of it's crimes before, during and after it's time in office.

I recall a book I read many years ago, in which the protagonist was musing on the history of his people being oppressed, and how they spent centuries trying to teach the oppressors that it was immoral to oppress people.

He concluded that it was impossible to teach them that it was immoral to oppress his people, but he could each them that it was unsafe to do so.

Most of these MAGAts will never admit that what they're doing is wrong, but we can at least get them to realize that what they're doing will put them in prison.

This is a cultural and desperation thing. This is a group hanging on to the threads of power and desperate not to lose to a multicultural future. Demographics are against them. They have been holding on to that power through political tactics like voter suppression. The true MAGAs won't ever change. I watched a Rick Wilson of the Lincoln Project in an interview today saying what I am now.

The way to defeat Trumpism is to keep it out of power and let generational change solve it.

I think the best way to accomplish this is through structural changes including a New Voting Rights Act, give statehood to DC and Puerto Rico and pass a new Reapportionment Act. Make it so it will be another 20 years before the GOP takes the reins.

The unfortunate part is that even if he's found guilty and sentenced to jail time (probably quite likely given the evidence, unless Stubby McBonespurs pardons him), there is a chance his jail time will be reduced or suspended because of covid.

The Insurgents are being rounded up
Trump has been banned from Social media
Parler has been kicked off GooglePlay and has 24 hours to deal with its Alt-Right issues before getting the same from Apple.

It almost feels so wrong to have such wonderful things happening after how horrid the past year has been.

It might have been mentioned before, but while this coup attempt did not really mirror the Nazi takeover, it followed Mussolini's power grab almost perfectly.
Several years of agitating against 'the radical left and traitors in the government', followed by a lightly armed mob marching on the seat of government threatening violence unless their strongman is installed as leader.

In both cases this mob posed no actual threat to the police.
The difference was in this case that in Italy the police was ordered to stand down and the government caved, whereas in the US (a part) of the police did it's duty in defending the government and drew a line.
