Heheh, Police Shield Guy 'is a registered Democrat':

Charges
Obstruction of an official proceeding, destruction of government property and illegally accessing a restricted area.

What happened
A witness told the FBI Pezzola and others said they intended to kill Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Mike Pence, and that they intended to return to Washington on Inauguration Day to "kill every single 'mf-er' they can."

Pezzola used a Capitol Police shield to break an exterior window and then went inside. He posted a video of himself smoking a cigar and saying, "Victory smoke in the Capitol, boys. ... I knew we could take this (expletive) over if we tried hard enough," according to the FBI complaint.

Records show Pezzola is a registered Democrat.

Ashli Babbit smashing the windows guy Chad Barrett:

Charges
Assault on a federal officer; Certain acts during a civil disorder; Destruction of government property over $1,000; Obstruction of justice; Unlawful entry on restricted building or grounds; Violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds

What happened
A family member identified a man in a video of the mob attempting to break the glass in the door to the speakers' lobby from video the Washington Post published of Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force veteran, being shot and killed by a sworn Capitol police employee. In the video, a man in a red jacket and gray cap strikes the windows to those doors at least 10 times, according to court records.

After seeing Jones on the news, the family member spoke with him and told him he needed to contact the FBI or an attorney. The FBI spoke with a friend of Jones', who said he spoke with him the day after the riot and that Jones said he was in trouble, according to court records.

This guy is going away for a loooooong time. I predict he'll be upgraded to felony murder.

This guy, Peter Stager, is sure to be upgraded to assault and wounding of a law enforcement officer. So far, it is just 'civil disorder':

What happened
A tip from an informant alerted the FBI that Peter Stager was the man seen in a video on Twitter using a pole with a U.S. flag attached to strike a Metropolitan Police Department officer.

The officer was blocking an archway as a group tried to breach the Capitol. The crowd dragged the officer down the stairs and he ended up on the ground, where he was beaten with "various objects," the FBI reported. An informant identified Stager in another video as the man saying: “Everybody in there is a treasonous traitor. Death is the only remedy for what’s in that building.”

Stager told authorities he thought the person he was striking was a member of antifa, but the complaint states the back of the uniform clearly states Metropolitan Police. Stager also told the FBI he was "wired up" from being tear-gassed or pepper-sprayed.

Claims he thought he was just beating up an Antifa (so that's all right, then). Haha.

Klete Keller - Olympic Gold medallist arrested. He stood out as he is 6'6" and well-known. Whoops!

What happened
Olympic gold-medal swimmer Klete Keller was arrested after being identified in video from the Capitol riot. At 6-foot-6, Keller is a five-time Olympic medalist and three-time Olympian. His height helped the FBI identify him after SwimSwam published a story confirming Keller was in footage shot by TownHall. Keller wore a jacket with a U.S. Olympic patch in the video.

Fat hippie guy standing next to Shaman Jake Chansley is William Watson, 23:

Age: 23
Arrested or charged on: 1/12/2021
Home state: Alabama
Charges
Bond revoked

What happened
The Associated Press reported that Watson was arrested in Alabama because he violated a previous bond when he traveled out of state. A CBS affiliate for eastern Alabama said authorities recognized Watson by the distinctive tattoos on his hand, and from photos of him wearing a tan or yelllow sweatshirt standing next to the man with the horned hat. The TV station reported federal authorities accompanied Auburn Police when they arrested Watson.

What a shame!

(Wasn't sure where to put this... its related to the riots, but it is also relevant to the republican party in general...)

A little good news...

From: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...mp-gop-republican-capitol-riots-b1794196.html
A nationwide exodus has reportedly begun to take shape within the Republican Party following the deadly pro-Trump attacks on the US Capitol, with tens of thousands of GOP members officially switching parties after the riots.

The article gives the following numbers of people leaving the republican party:
- Arizona: 9000
- Penn: 10000
- North Carolina: 6000
- Col: 4500
- Maryland: 2300

Granted, the fact that they are switching now doesn't mean they won't switch back to the GOP in a later election. But the fact that they actually went to the trouble of changing their party affiliation (rather than just express "disapproval" on some opinion poll) might mean that a few might be making their switch permanent.

Maybe if we are lucky, it may force a few congress-critters to reconsider their tendency to be Trump's boot-lickers.

I would guess most of them are registering as Independents?

What percentage of those are Trumpies who think the Republicans betrayed their orange god?

When I gave up and left the Republican Party several years ago, I called my Board of Elections in GA to change my affiliation. Only to find out in GA one does not have an affiliation. I believe the same is true in TN - I’m pretty sure I was not asked my party affiliation when I registered this past March.

Point is, there may be no way of knowing how many folks have left the Republican Party in disgust in many states, other than a poll, which you mention, or ultimately in voting behavior. I imagine in GA the number is huge, given the results of the three recent elections. I think TN will remain solidly red for a long time, but we’ll have to see.

I think a lot of sane republicans were hoping that once he was out of office, the GOP would break with Trump.
That is not happening.
As one person put it, GOP is in danger of keeping it base but losing everybody else.

BTW the guy in Pelosi's office got a real tongue lashing from a judge because of his arrogant attitude in court, and has been remanded to jail until trial.
SOmepeople just don't when to shut up, I guess. Common sense says when before a judge, you behave as politely as possible.

" sane Republicans"... who are these people?
Really?

Since the "moral majority" evangelicals hijacked the simply tax concerned Tea Party, and then held it as a gun to the GOP's head and declared "lying for Jesus" is okay and "anything is acceptable if it means our divinely chosen candidate is in power" they've shown that a Christian theocracy in America is how that want it. They have wet dreams over it. And they show no compromise in their tactics. They won't accommodate and they haven't dealt across the aisle.

Conservative is fine. Old school GOP is fine.
Which sen/reps do you mean?
I sure as hell don't see it in the vast swaths of rural gop voters.
Where's the sanity?
Which senators and reps do you mean?
Honestly... after T's tornado of disruption, does "sane Republican" still have meaning?

You gotta love as Trump is about to be tried by the Senate for inciting insurrection that the insurrectionists are blaming Trump for inciting them.

Oh the irony. :boxedin:

Give it another week or so and the lot of them will be on the same page claiming they were duped by AntiFa.

I have posted before - if the Antifa brain trust is smart enough to plan this and pull it off then the right wingers have already lost. Their activities are likely being completely controlled by their opponents and they cannot even tell. They are completely infiltrated.

Complaining that Antifa did this is not a position that helps their cause or case. It just makes them look, even more, like complete idiots.

If the flag in the court had a gold fringe around the United States flag (as I gather most US courts do), this means it's an Admiralty Courts. These courts cannot hear other kinds of cases as the court is operating under maritime law. So he was right to be arrogant.

(see any libertarian website) :(

It depends on who the target market is. You and I are not that market.
