Trump's Coup d'état.

I don't think you're giving the vietcong enough credit. they weren't as well equipped as the US but they were a real military force. the often overlooked part of the 2nd amendment is the well regulated part. although it really doesn't have any bearing on gun control debates, it's a critical part of the reasoning behind the existence of the amendment. no matter what else you got going on, you can't stop a tyrannical government if you're not organized.

As a Drill Sergeant explained to us 'cruits nigh upon 50 years ago, at least on the infantry side the VC were better equipped because in addition to their own weapons, they had all of ours as well.

I expect a substantial amount of right-wing terrorism in the next few years. There was a bombing in Nashville this morning, in fact, though the motivation is as yet unknown.

Google US v Vietcong for a quick primer.
The Viet Nam war was a complicated affair, and the US failed for a whole host of reasons. The complete inability, or unwillingness, to win the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese people was but one of them. The war crimes was another. Burning down a whole village because a patrol took sniper fire from one of the houses doesn't win you wars. As people at the time put it, the United States created 10 more Viet Cong warriors for every one they killed.

Granted, I don't know how much a far-right, trumpian regime is going to care about hearts and minds. They might go for good old shock and awe, coupled with every dirty trick in the book from collaboration with morally questionable alt-right militias to torture.

I'm pretty sure there will be a well armed militia of doofuses. It will be telling if der leader Trump shows up to reward them with a wave from his limo or if Trump remains in exile in FL. If Trump believes he really might still be crowned king, he'll be here. But if he's finally conceded in his mind, he won't want to be in the WH just to see once again he has been rejected.

If they are well armed, they'd best stay on the Virginia side of the Potomac. DC is not open carry and the couple of these morons who brought guns ate some pretty serious felonies.

OAN comments today:

Nobody's fool:
Contact our legislators? Seriously? Cause this all has the appearance of being a full-on assault on the American people via CCP assets embedded everywhere - from the social media company censorship algorithms writers all the way to the highest levels of government. Somehow I just don’t think a scathing letter to my state representatives is going to help the situation. You, Trump, still have Presidential authority to actually do something (declassify information, or use the insurrection act, for example). Why aren’t you doing it? Over 50 million patriots who believe the election was rigged are running out of patience.

ItsPolitics101:
No one should to ask republican lawmakers to do their job, especially when it comes ensuring the most sacred right in a free society is that right to vote in a fair & honest election. In fact any politician sworn to uphold the constitution should be running sprint race to protect that precious right. So to me ignoring such obvious election fraud is one in the same with abrogating ones oath to protect & defend the constitution!

Briben - Illegitimate & Crook:
I have contacted them. Most couldn't careless since Trump is trying to kill their golden goose. The only question for me is to I change my party today or wait until the corrupt REPUBLICANS finish allowing this fraudulent election to finish. Either way, at this point I will NEVER vote for another Republican who wasn't loudly trying to stop the corrupt DEMOCRATS and REPUBLICANS from this fraud. I'm done

Merry Xmas everyone!

We ain't gonna take it.

Military on alert over Trump’s martial law threat: ‘The craziness is unprecedented’

Bottom line, they are not going to cooperate with Trump just because he's POTUS for 25 more days.

The GOP idiots in the Congress can't seem to let go of the crazy.

Republicans defy leadership and sign up for Trump’s Electoral College challenge

What fantasy world are they in that they believe this will succeed with the House controlled by the Democrats and most of the Senate is not going along even if one Senator agrees to the debate?

Merry Xmas everyone, indeed! :D

They know it will fail, but it will make them popular with Trmmp's bse voters;that is what all the support is about, not so much Trump himself but the base. Afrid if they don't back up the president they will be primaired in 2022.
They will do anything to hand on to their seats.
Another good argument for Term Limits: it you know you will only be in DC for a limited number of terms and can't make a career of it, being relected might not be so big a thing.

With new Senator Tuberville apparently being the only one willing to object on Jan. 6th, McConnell and the rest of the senators should make it clear to him that he will be persona non grata in the Senate should he do so. He might think twice about it.

It looks like the GOP might finally be standing up to Trump. The $2000 thing may have been too much.

"He can destroy the country, launch a coup, and call my wife fat... but I'll be damned if I sit here and let him give money to poor people!" - GOP.

Is the answer “the fantasy world that Trump created 5 years ago”?
I bet the answer is “the fantasy world that Trump created 5 years ago.”

Some of the Tea Party guys got the message and some didn’t. Tuberville seems like a true believer and a dumbass to me so I doubt he’ll change, but maybe he’s just an opportunist.

Admittedly, this is a fantasy. But it is a great fantasy. I'd like to wake up tomorrow to see that Pence is President through invoking the 25th Amendment.

He would need 6 of these 12 people to go along
[Secretary of State Mike Pompeo,
Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin,
Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt,
Secretary of the Agriculture Sonny Perdue,
Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross,
Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia,
Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar,
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson,
Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao,
Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette,
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos,
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie
Ordinarily he would need two more of four other Cabinet officials except those officials have not been approved by Congress so they would not have votes.

They would send a letter to Congress saying Trump is incapable of carrying out his duties. Trump could send a letter to Congress objecting and Pence would have four days to respond. At which point Congress has up to 21 days to respond. The Democrats holding the House could stonewall while the Democrats in the Senate could filibuster right up until the inauguration.

This would make my year. Trump would be stunned. And my first order if I was Pence would be to recall Air Force One and not let Trump or his family to set foot in the White House.

We give them hell when they don’t follow their principles but when they do you still have a go at them!

;)

He’d be lucky to get one of them

I can think of a couple who might go along. Getting 6 seems highly unlikely.

But hey, its a fantasy. I also have a fantasy of having a threesome with Emilia Clarke and Jessica Chastain. It's Christmas. Go with it.

Newsflash for you: it is 2020 now. People don't have weapons similar to what government had anymore. Second amendment wankfantasies have no bearing on reality.

Of course they don't have similar weapons, any wannabe insurgents will be fighting with AMFO and IED's.

"Red Alert" seems a little alarmist. There's probably some prudent planning and discussion happening at the highest levels of the Pentagon and NORTHCOM. "Red alert" seems a bit silly for a plan that would be some variation of, "Say no and don't do anything".

Some of the Tea Party guys got the message and some didn’t. Tuberville seems like a true believer and a dumbass to me so I doubt he’ll change, but maybe he’s just an opportunist.

I think he might do it once, see the objection go down in flames and come to the realization that he'll spend the entire day losing.

So did you get what you wanted for Christmas? Enquiring minds, and all that. :)

And pictures or it didn't happen.
