Top Ten excuses to leave the GOP

So because I don't laugh at "jokes" that could have been written by a 14 year old, I hate "skeptics"?

No, but you signed up in here in 2006 and I assumed that you meant that "circle-jerk fests" are part of the agenda in here, which indeed seems to be true to some extend given the fact that the majority of Skeptics are more liberal than conservative.

On the other hand, humor itself doesn't seem to be conservative thing, so I appreciate that you left the GOP out of that reason. :p

I'm a canadian. I can't join the GOP.

Politically, I'm what we canucks call "small-C conservative" (with a little dose of libertarianism mixed in just to make things interesting). Always have been, always will be.

Well, than why does liberal humor strike you as "14 years old jokes" then?
And why did you reply at all if Canadas Conservatism and the GOP are two completely different things anyway?

You're not American either. Why did you start this topic?

Because I followed the Republican fate, this predominantly American Forum and the presidential debates in the last view years?

Given the fact that even the conservatives in Germany seem to be lousy liberals in American standards, of course US-conservatism is an interesting topic, don't you agree thanks to the Canadian liberal conversatism?

Herd mentality

People like to be "included", and feel like they are part of the "in" crowd. It is currently unpopular to be a Republican, and if you have strong views against abortion or gay marriage or big government, you have been classed an "extremist" and potential terrorist by the Department of Homeland Security.

Do you really need to ask why everyone is flocking to the controlling "Democratic" party? Everyone wants to back a winner, so they can consider themselves a winner. The liberal media constantly proclaims Barack Obama as our savior, and we see him spending money like an MTV rap icon; we have been conditioned to accept and reward this for the last 20 years.

My more cynical view is that we as a nation can see the writing on the wall and for the most part are frightened. Our rights are being systematically stripped away, and we do not want to be on any "watch lists" when the Jack Boots declare martial law.

Plus, minority viewpoints do not get as much airtime. Everyone loves to be on TV and hear themselves talk.

Oliver is a Paultard, FYI.

Not a group you join to be "part of the crowd" or "back a winner".

I actually disagree with Paul on several issues, but I admit that he seems to be the most rational "limiting Government", conservative candidate so far while conversatism in the US nowadays seems to be about extending government and increase spending. That's -of course- ridiculous to start with as a conservative small government politician or voter, is it not [to Canadian/American Conservative standards]?

My intent was not to insult a member of these forums. Yours, however, was.

I included reference to "President" Obama and liberals, you have changed it to refer to conservatives, if I am reading it correctly.

I do not know what the bolded term is in reference to, but it sounds offensive to those with Down Syndrome, so I do not like it.

Paultard refers to Ron Paul followers.

It's interesting that you take offense to something, by your own admission, you don't even know what it means. Do you normally jump to conclusions and assumptions like this? I think your offense to the word "tard" and defining it as people with Downs syndrome only, is offensive and elitist. What about other forms of Mental Retardation?

Why did you put President in scare quotes? You wouldn't happen to be one of the people who doubts Obama's status as a Natural Born Citizen, would you?

Wait a minute, isn't Ron Paul a Republican? He must be a mouth-breathing moron!

If I don't want to respond to everything in your post, but there is something in your post I want to comment on, I will quote only the part I am referring to.

In fairness, it wasn't Olivers actions that resulted in the coining of the term "Paultard". It was the other 12 Ron Paul supporters.

I came here expecting to see funny satire of Republicans. But that list of jokes was painfully unfunny. You suck.

Yeah, that's the problem. I don't mind humor even aimed at me, so long as it's funny. That list wasn't. Not even a little bit. And I am part of the audience who would be receptive to such humor. Get some better writers. I'd be willing to bet that the folks here could come up with much better lists.
