Tomorrow on BBC3

I suspect Songstress thinks that Clinton Baptiste from Peter Kays Phoenix nights is 'genuine' too.

But one must ask what is the real difference between a genuine medium and a faker?

I can't tell the difference so it's not suprising that Songstress is a little confused ;)

What makes you think he is genuine? Was it part of his performance that convinced you?

Maybe the bit where he described a picture of a piggy faced person (with eyes like p*ss-holes in the snow) which was clearly intended to be the person he was talking to?

Or when he contacted someone who had been charged by a hippo?

What was the most impressive part, from your perspective?
Maybe it was the part where she spoke to one old guy in the audience:

SG: You like a drink don't you. You know what I'm saying?

[Guy nods]

SG: But you don't want to be unconscious on the toilet floor with ◊◊◊◊ in your pants. Do you understand what I'm saying?

[Guy nods]

Songstress... still think he's genuine?

I notice songstress has gone away for a bit. Either crying in her beer or trying to rationalise her life with the astounding stuff she's learned here.

Come back songy, it's OK to admit you're wrong, re-assess your life, tell people you've seen the light and donate all your mediumship fees to Comic Relief.

Patsy/Songstress doesn't come on the internet
in the evenings, and trust me she isn't the type to cry into her beer. Made of much stronger stuff.

I will say I don't think goading folk like that will help bridge the gap. I've had some in-depth chats with Patsy about Ghosts, Derren Brown, NDE's, both of us on either side of the fence. She will chat willingly about her beliefs but I can't imagine she will if folk are taking the rise/piss like this. Surley we can all be respectful?

Anyway off to pour myself a large beer, dash of blackcurrant, bag of Walkers sensations and if last weeks show is anything to go by to crease mysides.

Will look out for you Patsy. Mind you will he say your name? Or I won't know which one is you.

This show sounds brilliant. Is there any way for those of in the far-flung corners of the earth to get a transcript or something?

Id be happy to stick a couple of eps on DVD for anyone in far flung lands.PM me with details.Dont all rush at once.....;)

I've just watched tonight's episode which I thought was funnier than last week. The only real flat spot was the shape shifter 'Colin Reynolds' which like the 'Ian Jackson' character previously was just plain silly (IMHO).

Chris French gave a good account of himself. Some might think he knew it was a setup but I can assure you he didn't. The reading about the 'magic tree' in the car was actually the funniest bit for me (well apart from the Chris French bit).

I'm glad that the audience was told it was a spoof - but I can assure you Marc Wootton is not, nor ever has been, a medium.

Not a chance.

If you beleive such tosh in the face of such damning evidence then you're fair game as far as I can see. If you can defend your views with proof then I'll happily eat my leather hat.

Whilst tap dancing on a newly frozen over hell.

By the way, tonight's show wasn't as funny as last week, although the funniest bit for me was the 'are you psychic' again. My girlfriend thought it was Barry White!!!! Obviously the wrong career for her.

Hi Tony

I enjoyed it too.

Mind you I hope they de-briefed the wedding copules afterwards, the how will die first spot.

When Chris French came on I had seen your post here and thought at first it may be you?

I think that part of the show highlighted well how the medium gets information, Fizz the cat, and then re-lays it back to us as psychic insight. , still love it when he says shush-ie, LOL.

I'm still confused at to who in the audience knew?

If they knew it was a send up I assumed they would be laughing, to me some of them looked genuienly shocked/disapointed. I know it could just be me but I would have been creasing my sides.

Patsy did you watch it?
I've taped it , which one was you?

Not a chance.

Then that's a shame because I just think Carl Sagan had a point when he said....
...The chief deficiency I see in the skeptical movement is its polarization: Us vs. Them -- the sense that we have a monopoly on the truth; that those other people who believe in all these stupid doctrines are morons; that if you're sensible, you'll listen to us; and if not, to hell with you. This is nonconstructive. It does not get our message across. It condemns us to permanent minority status. - Carl Sagan

Carl Sagan obviously wasn't having his familiy slowly chipped away by woo woo ghouls intent on making money out of people's grief then.

As I said before, if it's just a belief (like my friend who is a Christian creationist and just keeps it to himself) then fine. When it's a medium intent on trying to charge extortionate amounts to 'heal someone's hurt', a homeopathic practitioner preying on someone because they have cancer and are desperate or an acupuncturist who has currently cost someone close 300 quid for doing absolutely jack, well, tough.

Being nice to people appears to get you nowhere and this country is going to hell in a hand cart. I make no apologies for my stance and I won't stop just because I might hurt someone's feelings.

Fair comment Andy.

I suppose I just mean if we want people to listen and learn Carls style seems to work but I understand where your comming from. It's just I find folk don't listen/learn when their feelings are hurt.

I've actually found absolutely no difference in being soft/being hard with people. Sometimes I've been accused of being too hard on someone simply because I asked for evidence.

On another forum I'm on, someone said I was being patronising because I asked for evidence to back up their claim. Crazy.

I've had so many arguments with the fringe crowd that I'd rather now just lay out my stall. If people can't hack it then at least it's saved me the bother of having to listen to them whine.

On the flip side, it's not Patsy's fault that my family are being stalked so I shouldn't be so hard on her.

The story about the ghostly figure on the road made my (face) cheeks ache I laughed so much.
