Because it would kill the "white domestic violent extremist are the greatest threat to America" and the "racist cops are the biggest threat to black people" narratives.

Of the 46 mass shooters in the Gun Violence Archive database for March 2021, 2% (1) was committed by a White male; 8% (4) were committed by Hispanics; 45% (21) were committed by African Americans; and in 43%, or 20 cases, the attacker’s race is unknown.

In January 2019 I conducted an identical analysis, finding total of 25 American mass shootings. Of the 25 mass shootings in the Gun Violence Archive database, 16% (4) of them were committed by white male; 4% (1) was committed by a Hispanic man; 64% (16) were committed by African Americans; and in 16%, or 4 cases, the attacker’s race is unknown.

Of the 25 mass shootings in the Gun Violence Archive database for January 2020, 4% (1) of them was committed by a white male; 4% (1) was committed by a Hispanic man; 68% (17) were committed by African Americans; and in 24%, or 6 cases, the attacker’s race is unknown.

Down to New Orleans where 8 people, 1 of whom was hit in the face, were shot during a "gathering" in the parking lot of an abandoned hotel.

Not much from the media as far as suspect descriptions go, maybe I can find something on social media. I wonder if I would be more likely to find video where white supremacists post regularly or on world star hip-hop?

Of course that's not true. But these victims might be armed anyway. Most of the mass shootings that Bogative posts are gang warfare. Gang members shooting at rival gang members who might be armed but unable to defend themselves. Occasionally you will read about shootouts where both sides are armed and shoot.

Guns are common among gangbangers and a certain percentage of them are carrying and ready to shoot. It's also why cops have fear of gang criminals.

You probably knew all of that.
 
1 dead, 4 injured during a drive-by shooting in Salt Lake City. I'm thinking DHS won't be dispatching an anti-terrorism unit to this one.

4 injured when shots are fired at a trailer park/block party in Maury, North Carolina. Do the Proud Boys have a contingent in Maury, North Carolina? I have my doubts. The shooting happened at a trailer park so I guess it could be some of those fundamentalist Christian homeschool extremists shooting up the neighborhood.

We get it. Black on black crime is a huge thing. Everyoe knows that. All of this "Do the Proud Boys have a contingent in Maury, North Carolina?" is just a thread hijack.


And I think it's nice to do a service to call attention to it, sort of. It is conceivable that there are people who actually think that gun violence in America mostly consists of white males on rampages. They would have to be idiots to think that, but there are idiots in the world, and maybe some of them are here.

So, now that you've called attention to black on black crime, and everyone understands it, say something useful for a change. Say something that isn't some boring repetition of the same old ****.

Do you think there are any solutions?

Personally, I think making it much, much, harder to get a permit to carry a weapon would put a little dent in the situation, and while it would not solve the problem, it's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness, so that's one thing I would do.

What would you do?
 
Three indistinct gentlemen roll up to a Hooters in downtown St. Louis at 3am, step out of their car with assault rifles and open fire, injuring four teens. Nobody bothered calling the police.
The victims — two 19-year-old men, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl — were dropped off at an area hospital, and SLMPD officers weren't able to respond to the scene until medical personnel alerted them of the shooting.

Start by making people aware of the truth. Use the above mass shootings as an example, how much national or worldwide attention do you think the shooting will receive in the mainstream media?

Now compare that to how much attention was and is still being given to BLM protesters who were trespassing on private property when the homeowners grabbed weapons to defend themselves if needed.

Media and politicians would have you believe what the McCloskey's did was more grievous to the black community in St. Louis than what happened in the mass shooting last night. In the meantime, over 40 children have been shot this year in St. Louis, 11 under the age of 17 have been killed.

We live in a clown world where the real problems get ignored and the fake controversies like two white homeowners defending their property receive all the attention, I'm doing my small part to change that.

Wait. You're going to make people aware of the truth about gun violence and mass shootings by talking about the McCloskeys? In earlier posts you talked about the Proud Boys and others?

Something smells a bit fishy here. You think the media should talk about more of the mass shootings than about the McCloskey case, and you demonstrate this by talking about the McCloskey case in a thread about mass shootings. It seems like you are being part of the problem instead of part of the solution.

To reiterate, it seems like you are agreeing with the media, not about the grievousness of the incident, but about its importance. You are calling attention in some sense to the real problem, but then you are using the real problem that you just mentioned to divert attention back to the fake controversies. It would seem that your actual focus is on the fake controversies, and you are just using the real problem as a prop. In this specific case, you are using the real problem of gun violence to call attention to the McCloskey incident.

Right-wing extremism is the current biggest terrorist threat in the country. Has been since about the 1990s.

And they do tend to be white, since they often embrace borderline white supremacist ideologies and a general reversion to the old national order. If you feel defensive about that just 'cause they vaguely share your skin/blood, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Of course this point is about clear terrorist motives rather than the more diverse reasons associated with incidents we call mass shootings.

Yes the Islamist threat peaked in the 90s and early 2000s. At certain points we could probably say the threat from Al Qaeda was much greater. But the period also includes the rise of the American militia and anti-government movements which gave rise to incidents like the Oklahoma City bombing. American neo-Nazis were also gaining influence around this time.

You think me mentioning people like the McCloskey's, proud boys and others is a distraction from my point about mass shootings. Okay, opinion noted, thank you.

This is true, but the threat from "right-wing terrorists" in this country is minuscule compared to mass shootings that occur nearly daily. Right-wing terrorists killed 335 people in a 26 year period, 289 have been killed in mass shootings this year.

I don't recall any of the mass shootings being committed by right-wing terrorists this year.
 
There were a lot of other mass shootings that were also awful losses of life, and they'll probably continue for a long time. I don't think that's a very good reason to think right wing terrorists attacks aren't something worth discussion as a serious threat to people's lives. Politically motivated shootings are especially impactful to society, and attempting to diminish them as less than what they are because you agree with their politics is a sad use of time.
 
Arguing that a terrible thing isn't as terrible as another terrible thing because it happens less often does not render the terrible thing not terrible.

It's too late. There are more guns in circulation than people.

It will never happen.
 
I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the commitment to the "but chicago" bit being employed here. Nobody can say it's not a dedicated effort, though I'm not sure it's having much effect beyond spamming this thread in between more notable spree shootings.
