Of course you do. Ignore what is said among Democratic leaders and make up your own version. My opinion on guns is... complicated.
I don't disagree with (American style lest we have the "bUt in uDDer CounTRIES dE AMERIAcan LEFt woULD be on Da RIGHt!" discussion again for no reason) liberals for the most part.
My issue is when they say "Oh no we don't want to ban gun"... I don't believe them. I think they are lying.
Based on what exactly? They can say "Oh we just want to outlaw assault weapons, or do background checks, or this, or that" all day but I don't think that's really their end goal.
So we should admit your imaginary version of Democratic legislative goals even if they are not true?Hairsplits at at what point something is "outlawed" aside I don't think there is a viable level of anything resembling American style gun ownership that they are comfortable with.
Which is fine if that's what they want, I just would admit it.
It would be wonderful if we had Canada, the UK, Australia's starting point with personal firearms. But there's no way that will ever happen here, so why would the Democratic mainstream ever think outlawing guns was a solution for the US? We don't. Maybe a few left-wing silly sorts do. Hey what about those left-wing AntiFas? Think they want an unarmed revolution?
Let go of those fantasies pushed for political gain and take a look at the issues.
Good guys with guns is Russian backed NRA nonsense. Very rarely is there ever an example of this.
Too many gun deaths are occurring.
Some people believe owning that gun is their right and for them it makes them feel safer.

These are the realities minus the propaganda. Feel free to add your own just don't push the BS.
Given those realities, what are the solutions?
The Democrats would at least like to make mass shooting rare. That means taking away the means to rapid fire dozens to hundreds of rounds.
Yes, some people think they need that fire power in case they need to fight the government. Well guess what, Waco and Ruby Ridge are evidence it ain't gonna happen no matter how much fire power people have.
There is no slippery slope, just like there ain't gonna be a standoff that successfully fights off the government forces.
So rather than fantasy, can we at least start with a few measures?
Better background checks and screening of gun buyers.
Eliminate devices be they large clips or rapid fire weapons.
Eliminate hollow-point (cop killer) ammo.
There are more things we need to address the large number of gun murders in places like Chicago. Banning weapons is not a viable option.
