"Prior to departing Wisconsin, I was briefed on the shooting at Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Thank you to all of the First Responders who are currently on the scene."

I thought he would have been pleased. After all, they were the 'Enemy of the people' as he keeps pointing out.

But the fingerprint mutilation suggests (maybe*) that he thinks he thinks he can avoid being identified even if he gets captured. Long term.

*Unless he did it to avoid leaving fingerprints at the scene, which would be odd since all he would have to do is wear gloves.

How effective is mutilating your fingertips anyway? Would the fingers heal enough to provide some sort of useful prints eventually?

It's like a mass shooting drinking game. Everybody slam a beer or do a shot when the do-nothing politicians say that.

I don't see it working long term to prevent identification since his mugshot will be released to the public and someone will most likely recognize him. Seems like a plan to delay the inevitable if caught.
 
It's OK folks, it isn't being treated as a terrorist incident so we can all breathe easy.

Let's wait for the facts to come out instead of snap judgements.
ANd it turns out that this was politically motivated and is not being considered a terrorist incident because the shooter is on the extreme right, I will be yelling the loudest about it.

I would say trying something like this in a city where there is a major Military Academy is not exactly brilliant.....

To try a terrorist act just a few blocks away from one of the biggest Military Academies in the US...(US Naval Academy) indicated the guy is not the brightest bulb on the planet....

You're assuming rational thought. I think we can rule that out.
 
Latest reports: Police have identified him via facial-recognition technology and are executing a search warrant on his house.

Perhaps. The surviving victims of the San Bernardino mass shooting knew their assailant and were able to identify him immediately to police.
