More details here, 'many down', apparently. Oh dear, and 'multiple shooters'. America, what is going on?

Monday.

(And there are frequently initial reports of "multiple shooters". People who are getting shot at aren't always the most reliable reporters. It almost always turns out that there's only one.)

What do you think? Mentally ill?

Mentally ill because....

It's a good thing this guy was just murdering some people instead of trying to sell some loose cigarettes, pass a bad bill or carrying some Skittles.

But where was the good guy with a gun? Why didn't he shoot the shooter immediately?

Wearing a cape. Of course. The last I heard, he had too much trouble finding a phone booth to change clothes. These are trying-times, you know.

There was just a news conference, but there wasn't really a lot of information to give. The police would not give a casualty figure, except to say that "a number" of people had been killed, and one of them was a police officer.

Separate reports said that two additional officers had been "injured"; but the police commander at the news conference stated that the only known person (so far) to have "serious injuries" is the person-of-interest. Many cameras captured a man in handcuffs being led from the store, apparently wearing only boxer shorts, who was limping and seemed to be bleeding seriously from his right leg.

Because they aren't, at least according to Ben Radford and the Center for Inquiry.

Roughly half spree shooters are white. Aside from that, 70% of Americans are white. Only a racists would expect the majority of domestic terrorists to other than white.

Weird article. Its central conceit is, "it is true that most mass shootings are committed by white men when 'mass shooting' is given a definition that matches what most people mean and think of when they colloquially use the term; but, if we change the definition to include another category of multi-victim shootings that most people don't think of when using the term 'mass shooting', that ratio changes" which is just a bizarre contrarian argument; it seems to me like straining to find a way to make the issue more complicated purely for the sake of then having an excuse to "technically disagree". Yes, if we include crimes of a type that people aren't talking about, of course that's going to skew the accuracy of their stated conclusions because those conclusions weren't about the same set of data.

Another short press conference just finished in Boulder. 10 died in the supermarket shooting including one Boulder police officer.
