I often wondered If it where possibly to put a giant mirror facing Earth a half a light year away and look at the reflection of earth in the mirror with a telescope would you have a window in time that allows you to see year in the past?

err ... yes, you would; the bit that are facing the mirror and can be seen with the limited resolution.
Or you could put a telescope facing the earth there and send the picture back.
Or you just use the satellite data we already have.

So we can create a window into the past, all we have to do is figure out a way to crawl threw the window and hope we don't set off any alarms
