Tim Pool: Insightful Centre-left Independent Journalist or Right-Wing Pro-Trump Hack?

Thank you. Yes, the guy who wrote the article. Duh.

Jason Campbell was on the next episode of that same podcast, and I mixed his name with that of Tim Pool. Sheesh.

I first came by that article by way of Jared Holt's interview. Can't recommend his podcast enough for all things right wing extremist.

On the idea of people shifting from the left to the right...

I've encountered the claim several times that they're getting paid a lot by right-wing donors, but I have no way to confirm or refute it.
David Pakman has talked about being offered big money to become a right-wing conservative. He refused, saying he couldn't live with himself if he did so.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd03OxfgG-M
Kyle Kulinski has also said that when he met one of these guys (maybe Poole but I think it was actually Rubin), that guy talked about wanting to make lots of money in political commentary and asked KK what his plans were for making more money from it.

Bumping the thread to provide a second installment of this video essay on centre-left fence-sitting journalist (*psssst, he's not centre left at all; he is a far-right hack, but that's the joke...) where he makes outrageous claims (that he quietly walks back).

It's a beautiful video, in my opinion, that shows the tactics of conspiracy theorists and the way they add disclaimers that they know their audience will ignore.

Tim Pool carrying water for a far-right extremist that walked into a protest crowd and opened fire onto 5 unarmed people, before being shot in self-defense by an armed demonstrator. Ben Smith, the shooter, killed one unarmed woman and injured 4 others before being critically wounded himself by gunfire.

In his latest video Tim Pool claims he thinks it’s more likely that antifa gunned down the Portland shooter while he was running away than that witnesses of the shooting are telling the truth. Pool then claims the left has lied about the deaths of several young black men.

...

Similar rumors are being spread across the far-right information ecosystem. On Monday, Proud Boys-adjacent Murder the Media wrote on Telegram, “Antifa involved in a mass shooting with neighborhood member in Portland, killing 1 and injuring 5.”

Many have also taken issue with PPB’s characterization of events and how long it took them to reveal Smith’s identity. Police initially said that the shooting “appeared to be a confrontation between armed protesters and an armed homeowner.”

Ben Smith, whom people who knew him described as obsessed with killing antifa and commies, has since been charged with 1 count of murder and 4 counts of attempted murder for the spree shooting. The man who stopped the shooting by firing back has not been charged after prosecutors viewed the video.

There has been a rush for fascist propagandists like Pool and Andy Ngo to take advantage of the confusion around the incident sewn by the PPD to paint a mass shooter as a victim.

Apparently, Any Ngo (is he still sporting his British accent?) deleted all of those Tweets. Of course, they were all screen captured. Besides, you don't actually "delete" tweets. You just flag them to not be publicly visible. They still exist.

Whaaaa...t?!

I am shocked. SHOCKED to hear that Tim Pool, Dave Rubin and Benny Johnson have been receiving money to spread their propaganda.

Shocked because I thought that even Russia could do better than this troika of dumb *****.

Russia Secretly Worms Its Way Into America’s Conservative Media
Federal prosecutors say Russia paid an American media company to push pro-Kremlin messages from social media influencers including Benny Johnson, Tim Pool and Dave Rubin.

I mean, it is not for nothing that the guy's nickname is Dim Tool.

In early 2022, a young couple from Canada, Lauren Chen and Liam Donovan, registered a new company in Tennessee that went on to create a social media outlet called Tenet Media.

By November 2023, they had assembled a lineup of major conservative social media stars, including Benny Johnson, Tim Pool and Dave Rubin, to post original content on Tenet’s platform. The site then began posting hundreds of videos — trafficking in pointed political commentary as well as conspiracy theories about election fraud, Covid-19, immigrants and Russia’s war with Ukraine — that were then promoted across the spectrum of social media, from YouTube to TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram and Rumble.
It was all, federal prosecutors now say, a covert Russian influence operation. On Wednesday, the Justice Department accused two Russians of helping orchestrate $10 million in payments to Tenet in a scheme to use those stars to spread Kremlin-friendly messages.

I've been trying to think what a normal reaction would be if you had genuinely found out you had been duped into being a paid Russian propaganda mouth-piece.

My feeling is that it would be either to try to disappear and recreate your life somewhere, or to issue heartfelt public apologies, admit to being an easily manipulated moron and give all earnings away to a Ukrainian aid charity.

I'm not finding the ignorant "victim" claim at all convincing.

Pool and the others would have money from literally anyone - they think what they have to say is so powerful and important that no source of income can discredit it.

The only regret they have is that they won't get paid anymore.

A bit of an aside:
I am currently scanning through yesterday's 7 1/2 hours video by "Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth" on the occasion of the upcoming anniversary of the attacks, featuring some AE911T insiders as well as some fringy guests, some of who I had not previously heard of.

One is a certain Ian Crossland who is introduced as:

This is a fascinating guy to listen to on his video blogs, and we're gonna get a chance to discuss some things with him here. This is Ian Crossland, he is an experienced media director with a fascinating background including being an actor as well as a social media network creator and a host and developer on the popular show "timcast", hosted by Tim Pool.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSkzO7E040Q&t=13145s

Anybody know him?

(ETA: He has a prepared list of AE911T's usual talking points, that he is firing of rapidly, claiming that he became a "Truther" in about 2007 - having watched "Zeitgeist" and "Loose Change" - and that the two issues that convinced him were "near-freefall acceleration" and "nanothermite in the dust". Well, at least the latter issue didn't hit the Truthersphere until 2009 and was not at all in those two movies, so clearly Crossland is talking out of his arse, perhaps being outright paid by AE911Truth to echo their shtick.)

Yes, Crossland is one of the regular co-hosts with Tim Pool. He is actually considered by many to be so stupid that he is even the butt of jokes on Pool's podcast.

On Knowledge Fight, Dan and Jordan covered a "debate" which Crossland was supposedly moderating, featuring Destiny arguing with some nutjobs about January 6th. Alex Jones crashes the debate which is why the Knowledge Fight people covered it. Dan plays some clips of Crossland being mocked by Pool and others.

Another regular with Pool is someone with form in 9/11 Truth and that's Luke Rudowski. Older but no wiser than he once was.

Poole shilling for Putin just weeks ago.

It's "ironic" but so is much of the right wing narrative.

Ewwww.... I won't click that if it is a whole video of Pool's on his own channel. No clicks from me.

However, here is a click of the little useful idiot banging the table and saying "Ukraine is the greatest enemy of this country!" and claiming that the war that Russia started against Ukraine was started by Ukraine by blowing up the Nordstream pipeline. I mean Duuuuuurrrrr, the Nordstream pipeline blew up months after Russia had already mounted a full-scale invasion of Ukraine which means, in my opinion, blowing up the pipeline was completely justified (if they did it).

Thanks for the info
I am not going to try to find the mocking bits in a 3.5 hours long sound file

Folks, go easy on Tim and his other lazy hack friends. They thought they were taking money from American billionaires to undermine US policy. A totally OK thing.

Timbah deserves way more views. There's no one who does this type of video essay better in my opinion.
