His wife's been publicly humiliated, the whole world knows that her husband cheated on her with numerous other women; she and her children have been hounded by the media, trying to get pictures of them, trying to get her to comment on a situation that was not her making.

Now, you propose that Tiger should pull his wife up in front of the cameras again?

Yeah, it would possibly make it easier on Tiger...he can do the big public apology with his wife crying and hugging him to show she accepts the apology...but I say big kudos to Tiger for not trying to drag his wife into this again.

As he said, these are matters between he and his wife. His wife most definitely owes neither the media nor the public a damn thing. And in my opinion, Tiger comes off better for doing his best to take it all on himself, and keep her out of it.

There are some people in this world who ought to have been given their fifteen minutes of fame, after which we really ought to have been spared from ever having to hear from or of them again. I'm growing increasingly convinced that Mr. Woods is one such person.

Perhaps, but as he acheives his 20th and 21st Major he will rightfully be basking in fame in my opinion.

Why? Because he's had an affair?

Tiger Woods has earned his fame the old fashioned way: through actual talent and ability, and he hasn't used his fame to soapbox or passing judgment on people or subjects outside of his field. So how doesn't he deserve his fame?
 
I'm of the opinion that what Tiger does with his little club has no bearing on what he does with the big ones.

I have to agree with The Donald. This marriage is dead. Those type of wounds don't heal. He will have to live under her thumb for the rest of his life. That is no life. Cut his losses. Give her 300 million and move on. A leopard can't change its spots and a tiger can't change its stripes. I suppose Tiger will find this out after his next affair.
 
I think that the final four words of the great underrated film "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai" put it best:


"So what? Big deal."
 
Maybe I'm a bit oldschool in that, but I think talking about a celebrities relationship problems is rather sordid.
 
Only two kinds of people make public apologies. Those that need the public's vote or those that need the public's adulation for the purpose of making $$$$.

I have no respect for either.

I am in complete agree with you here.

Tiger hit a tiny ball with a metal club then people hired him to say "Buy this please." That's it. He's an athlete. He didn't pretend to be anything else. He didn't preach on how others should live, he never set any moral standards for marriage and fidelity so why the hell is this even an issue? Why was media coverage of his apology to the nation was like that of a president making a speech? Why the hell did he have to apologize to the nation at all? This is between him, his family and the woman (women? I don't even know ..or care) he was involved with. There is no reason for him to apologize to America.
 
The only reason I can think of about why he apologized is because his sponsors put him up to it. They write the checks, and the public buys the products, so they have him by the balls at this point. His wife could've put him up to it to. I think if it was up to him, he would've remained quiet forever.

I'll go along with that. Might want to add pressure from the new media shows too. After all, they have to have something to show in between the commercials... :)

Many I have heard on talkback are less than impressed with the news conference and Tiger's refusal to take questions. IMO, his wife's absence makes the whole thing a bit hollow. But I hope he gets back to golf soon.

I didn't see it, but just hearing about it caused me to lose respect for him.

I agree with "The Donald's" comment above. If I had a billion dollars, I'd throw the wife a couple hundred million and tell everyone else to go to hell.
 
That Mr. Woods believes the entire world needed to hear him apologise for his behaviour makes me think his "addiction" to sex is the least of his psychological problems.
