I like how people are so closeminded as to ignore basic logic when defending their prejudices. Obviously, there is a difference between recognizing that something holds value and defending it.
As Darwin said, an argument must either be for or against something to have any value. Obviously the statement that "religious teachings hold value because they are traditional" is an argument in favour of the religious teachings or against non-traditional ideas.
As the statement made up part of Joanne McGarry's argument you are mistaken to believe that religious teachings are not being defended or that non-traditional ideas are being attacked..
