Yes, and the RNC would like nothign more than to have a bunch of Democrats run around saying "The RNC lied when they said we were in a recession. We're in a recovery!" because, while technically true, it is of absolutely no comfort to the Americans who don't care about technical definitions and who is technically right, but do care about whether they have economic security (which they don't, regardless of the words used to describe the state of the economy). So every time a Democrat goes on TV to state the truth, all they do is remind people that whether we are in a technical recovery or not, the economy still sucks.
 
About the regulations hurting small businesses, I have never heard anybody give an answer to what regulations, specifically, hurt small businesses, that the federal government, not the state government, control.

That's because it's a slogan, not a fact. I have a small business and health care industry regulations are at least average, if not more than average, and the only regulation I found problematic, but it's now changed, was the state worker's comp not recognizing nurse practitioners as independent providers so we had to have an MD cosign claims in order to be reimbursed for care.

There have been a few regulations re worker safety that cost employers some money but the worker's often don't get protection without regulations.

And a whole lot of these regulations are state regs, not necessarily federal.

You're saying the electorate wants to be lied to?

Or that they don't want to hear factual good news because times are still tough?

[ETA: Or maybe you think the fact that so many people don't know what the term "recession" means justifies RNC speakers lying?]

And I think Democrats have been fine with recognizing the dearth of "economic security". The huge problem is that we have brinksmanship rather than a Congress that works together. And that Congress is going to take us to the brink of (if not over) the "fiscal cliff" which Democrats fully recognize is likely to send us back into a recession.

What a strange argument-- that a lie is somehow more accurate than the truth!

The only one I hear about is a lie. I've hear conservatives repeat the lie that Obamacare will place burdens on small businesses. In fact, the employer mandate only applies to businesses that are by legal definition not "small businesses" (having at least 50 employees). And it gives tax incentives to actual small businesses who do offer insurance.

But I guess a company with 50 or more employees can be called a "small business" in a country where someone in the top 10% of incomes can be considered "middle class".

I have asked about this too. I too have failed to get an answer.

Maybe someone should start a dedicated thread on the subject?
