Thought Experiment to argue about.....

Nothing much.

Fly's can accelerate/decelerate quite rapidly. Many times g but, of course, only very briefly where the viscosity of the air limits its velocity relative to air.

Effectively, it would be as if the weight of the fly were increased 40% and at an angle offset from vertical. Not going to affect the fly much at all. They can fly much faster than dead ones drop through the air.
 
I don't really know about flies or other insects, but mammals, including people do have the multiple accelerometers and the functional equivalent of gyroscopes in their inner ears.

The inner ear has an accelerometer, but not the multiple accelerometers needed to act as an IMU. Nor do we have the ability to integrate the readings from the accelerometers to determine our location and attitude. That's why pilots are taught to follow what their instruments show instead of flying "by the seat of their pants."
