They Caught The Times Square Bomber

I, for one, quake in fear at the thought of conservative authors writing books.

No danger of conservative authors balancing your shaky shelf of books by Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, David Denby, Valerie Plame, Paul Krugman, Jonathan Kozol, Geoffrey Nunberg, Keith Olbermann, Frank Rich, etc.

Might do? Michelle Malkin wrote a whole book called "in defense of internment" or some such bile where she argued that racial profiling was good thing. A desire for racial profiling among Teabaggers isn't exactly a secret.

Look, I do not want to defend Malkin here, but profiling can be a good thing and a very effective thing. It is a powerful tool though, so it must only be used by highly trained people with tight supervision, as it will be abused by Joe "Middle Management" Schmoe. I am most in favor of it for airport security.

I don't think it means anything. I think the truth is that these people are just not well organized, funded, or trained.

This article says he was trained and directed by the Pakistani Taliban.

This surprised me.

How come his bomb was so sloppy? I thought the Taliban were masters of IEDs and detonators etc. What kind of training did they give him? Or does making an effective bomb just require a lot of practice?

As I've said earlier, propane tanks in Pakistan may well lack the safety features of propane tanks here, and that may have foiled the plot.

But is that the TRUTH? Let's just say that I have expertise in late-model Nissan Pathfinders, and they do NOT smoke like that when they have a car bomb in them. There must be something else to this story. There must!!

Times Square Truth movement?

You reman wrong.

I don't vote by party.

I vote by candidate.

And he is your loon. OF course you refuse to accept that people with positions he holds or pretends to hold exist.
At some point, you need to understand that your continued attempts to attribute to me things I don't say, and don't do, will be answered for the falsehoods that they are. Dishonesty isn't a good policy. Stop making it yours.

DR

I have attributed far more willful ignorance and blatant ignoring of reality than false opinions to you.

Stripping a person of citizenship deals with constitutional rights so that's perfectly cool. Stealing the 2nd amendment is upsetting but who really needs the 4th, 5th, 6th, 14th...etc etc?

Hey there has been a dedicated republican agenda since at least Regan to get rid of those annoying amendments.

Clearly McCain has gone off the deep end. Why would you not Mirandize him? Yes, you might get more information about his co-conspirators (if there were any), but at the cost of letting the perp walk. Keep in mind this guy is a US citizen. You either try him through the normal criminal process, or let him walk. No military tribunals for an "illegal enemy combatant". It disturbs me that a lot of Republicans seem to think that the Bill of Rights is something to be respected only when it's convenient.

Only if you think he deserves constitutional rights, many people seemingly like McCain here think he does not deserve those rights. You are kind of doing a reverse strawman about these arguments because they don't think that not giving these people rights should impede our ability to hold them.

It is still a bit sketchy to depend on the car becoming fully evolved for long enough to heat the tanks enough to rupture in an explosive manner.

No, I accept he exists, but I don't share his opinion on this issue. The problem is yours, and your attempt to attribute positions to me that I don't hold. Not my problem.

And you do so both falsely, and consistently, due to your choice to try and play games on these discussion forums.

Please, don't let me stop you from making an arse out of you.

I would have thought they would have been aware of that as the Glasgow airport bombing failed for much the same safety reasons. The tanks just blow off through relief valves. This was a very poor effort all things considering (thankfully).

That doesn't mean that similar attacks won't be tried again.

Because Code Pink isn't trying to incite a civil war.

From your source:

"In strongly conservative states like Oklahoma, some legislators have also discussed further action to fight federal policies, such as state legislation and lawsuits."

The federal government must be trying to incite a civil war as well.

"Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday that the Justice Department was considering a federal lawsuit against Arizona's new immigration law."

Of course this doesn't explain why Contessa Brewer, MSNBC's news anchor, feels obliged to disparage a group exercising their 1st Amendment rights just because she does not agree with their politics.

No the problem is that you don't find that your own candidate have positions that are broad enough to merit mention, and treat any such mention as a personal attack. So I guess you realize that the candidates you vote for have lost touch even with your own view of reality.

Not my problem that you are unable to differentiate between candidates and voters. A lot of voters are stuck with two sub optimal choices. So, we pick one, and then have a nice shot of whiskey to get the bad taste out of our mouths.

Do you not vote at all?

Look you object to the mere mentioning of the candidate you voted for positions. Why? I did not originally make any claim that you believed it, you just love to be a jerk so much that you really can't help yourself.
