It appears that most TAM attendees are of drinking age, and while I'm mentally over 21, chronologically I'm 19. So, I was thinking of networking/organizing something with the younger TAM attendees on the non-forum party night.

Whadya think?

I think Kitty made a thread like this for TAM 5, but I don't remember what happened.

I'm taking my sons Caspian will be 20 by TAM, and Stirling is 17. They have both been to several TAM's and other Skeptic Events. I would love to have them hang out with other like-minded people, while I go do something else.

kitten2 is coming.

she made me play DDR with her at 2 am. Someone please help!!!!

What is DDR?

My kids are into something called Arkum Horror, it involves getting rid of monsters in a 1920 town, a board game that takes tons of room to play.

I think it is very important that these kids form a social network, they are the next generation and need support within their own age. We must always look out for the younger generations, keep them interested show them how important they are. They are just beginning to vote after all.

I remember standing at the back of a CSICOP event and looking at a sea of gray hair and thinking that this isn't a good thing.

Yeah, at Skeptics Society meetings, CFI events, etc everyone is white-haired. I really want to network with the younger skeptics. I do a lot of campus activism with skepticism (a la my club, Bruin Alliance of Skeptics and Secularists) and I network with a lot of college students.

DDR is Dance Dance Revolution. Instead of explaining it I point you to this:
-Wikipedia article explaining it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Dance_Revolution

Oh my FSM, kids still do this? This was around years ago, I tried it but couldn't get it. I watched kids (mostly boys for some reason) one after another do it, they were amazing. They used the bars and spun around just incredible. I think maybe the reason why I was having so much trouble with it was I had never heard of the music. Hard to follow it.

So are you looking at getting together in a hotel room, or finding a area in the hotel to gather? Are you wanting to play games or maybe have a group discussion.

If you could pull off a discussion that would be fantastic. Maybe you could talk about how to get more youth involved (I would also like to see more minorities) brainstorm for ideas and present them to Randi at the meeting.

Networking with the youth is also important, even if all you do is play games, you will have begun the process.

I think that you might find that many of the over 21 crowd would rather hang out with you guys.

Yeah, if there's some sort of Guitar Hero/any other game scenario, then I'm coming to hang out with the youngsters :D

Hey, YES.

We definitely should set up guitar hero. I have 2 controllers GHII, and GHII: Rock of the 80s. Yes yes yes yes.

Travis is planning on attending, at this point. He will be 20 by then, and so will need people who can sneak drinks to him like on the Cruise and TAM 5.5 hang with him when he gets tired of 'adults'.

Unless Kitty needs him to help her do the whole 'tequila tasting adventure' thing again.
