Free & Equal will host the “United We Stand” Festival Tour kicking off at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on May 10th, 2014. The UWS Festival tour will showcase music as well as panels of musicians, actors, writers, journalists, and other speakers discussing key issues such as: The Patriot Act, NDAA, NSA, war on drugs, drones, foreign policies, GMO, Internet freedom, election reform and more. The events will be recorded and broadcast globally.

The Festival will start at UCLA and continue on a 10-city university tour. The momentum of the tour will help unite and empower voters and build a base of supporters for young people running for local office in 2014. Our Free & Equal Debate initiatives and Election Assistant app will also help support new candidates for office, especially those running for Congressional seats.

Our confirmed roster of musicians who support political and social activism includes: Public Enemy—with Chuck D, Flavor Flav, DJ Lord and Professor Griff, Founders of Wu-Tang Clan; with Cappadonna, U-God, and Masta Killa, Rooftop Revolutionaries, Playing For Change, A-ALikes, Saving Abel, Golden State, Tatiana Moroz and many more.

No matter how you stand on the issues, it all looks quite reasonable until you notice that, besides Abby Martin and Ben Swann, the list of invited "speakers" also includes Richard Gage and Luke Rudkowski. AE911Truth are already proudly advertising this on their Facebook page.

While the people who run this event appear to do their best to appeal to the young by using left catchphrases ("revolution", "occupy", etc.), it's worth noting that the founder of "Free & Equal", one Christina Tobin, actually is quite the opposite of "left", as she seems to be a no taxes, no government, no gun-control kind of libertarian.

Here's Tobin letting Gage spread his gospel on her podcast in June 2013. She seems very impressed ("fantastic website" ... "everything you say is so logical" ... "get the truth out there about 9/11"). At one point towards the end she mentions the "Creature from Jekyll Island", the "elites" and "intentionally supressed" technology...

Considering all of that, I'm kind of surprised that Billy Corgan is not on the festival line-up (yet).

And no mention of "Occupy"? How soon their fads fade. :)

I'm guessing the festival is anti-GMO. :oldroll:

With regards 9/11 Truth, I wonder if Gage and Rudkowski get along. Anyone know how terms are between them?

Sounds to me like truthers once again trying to ride the coattails of issues people actually care about. Excepting the GMO and vague "others" categories, that's all stuff I worry about, too. Since there's no explicit mention of 9/11 on the poster, if you aren't familiar with the organizers as described in the OP, there's no reason to think it's anything more than what is listed above.

Crap, I'd go just to see PE. That's hardly Wutang either. There's like 500 people in it lol. It'd also be fun walk around and laugh at all the silliness. :D

It indeed looks like one of the goals is to put some fringe groups on the map together with legitimate movements and causes.

Apparently at one point they also had Jesse Ventura, whatshisname from "Zeitgeist" and Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America attached. They still have Foster and Kimberly Gamble of the "Thrive Movement" (which I understand is named after one of the many New Age conspiracy videos on YouTube), and some woman who wrote a book about what an evil conspiracy the Agenda 21 is.

They also tried to publicly invite Alex Jones and a long list of musicians and celebrities, a number of which has dabbled in conspiracy theories in the past, like Martin Sheen, Oliver Stone, Willie Nelson, Woody Harrelson, Ron Paul, Roseanne Barr and, yes, Billy Corgan.

The whole event seems to have suffered for a while from problems finding guests of certain star power to join. They first planned to hold it in June 2013 in the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas, then moved it to L.A. in the hope to attract more "a-list talent" and "mega stars", with a planned date in October 2013, which they had to move again.

NOOOOOOOOO.... Oh... Meth, RZA, & GZA aren't there? NVM. Chuck lost me a long time ago but I still love PE's old stuff.

ETA: Wait, this is a coattail thing? I don't feel as bad now.

I have admired Playing For Change since I first heard of their work building schools, especially music schools, in Africa, mostly in Mali. They make a nice counter to al Qaeda.

They at least seem legitimate. Not sure I have any clue about the others musical acts.

The organizers are pretty obvious fruit-loops. Anarcho-nihilist or anracho-capitalists, apparently.

Pratt is known to have some friends in the white nationalist movement.

Booking PE and WuTang members? That's a sure way to get yoked up lol.

If Meth was there I'd definitely go!

(NSFW for language, violence, drugs, etc... Basically everything that made 90s rap great lol)

Whoever is in charge of the festival organizer's Facebook page is not trying very hard to increase the organisation's credibility.

Anti-vaxxers? Check.
Fluoride paranoiacs? Check.
Quack healers and chemtrails? Check.
Fukushima cover-up? Check.
Assad framed by the west? Check.

Wow! (from Muc's links)
Free and Equal - This is a different brand. These guys are hardcore. They go beyond the loophole-laden USDA organic standards. They grow their blue-green algaes indoors to avoid atmospherical heavy metals that come from chemtrails.

Chemtrails as a selling point. Dick Gage would be proud! :D

Earlier this week, an activist festival at UCLA set for Saturday and featuring Public Enemy, members of Wu-Tang Clan, and speakers including Dennis Kucinich, was suddenly canceled. Called United We Stand, it was to be held at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion.

Thousands of tickets had already been sold when the university abruptly pulled the plug, claiming that the organizers - called Free & Equal Elections Foundation - had missed a payment deadline for the venue. Organizers are looking to reschedule, and both sides blame the other.

In a statement to the Daily Bruin, UCLA Media Relations wrote that after the payment was not received by Monday, per their agreement, Free & Equal said the money would arrive by Tuesday at noon. When it was not received by that time, the statement continued, the festival was canceled. (Shortly thereafter, a different affair was relocated to Pauley in its place - an event for transfer students.) ...

The group and the school quickly set to work relocating the event; Tobin says it has been moved outdoors to UCLA's Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, though neither UCLA Media Relations nor Mylin could confirm this.

Wherever it ends up, it is still scheduled for tomorrow, May 10, from 4-10 pm, though it will now be free. Some of those who previously purchased tickets may have some trouble getting their money back, but are promised "priority entrance and seating."

About 2,000 people had bought tickets for the event and were refunded after Free and Equal was notified of the venue cancellation, Tobin said.

2,000 tickets for a 14,000 capacity venue... or in AE911Truth's words:

We encouraged everyone through our social media platforms to support the event at Indiegogo. You can also reserve your tickets – it will sell-out.

It's been moved again. The event's website says:

Festival organizers are thrilled to announce that the United We Stand Festival will be held today, May 10, at The Belasco Theater, 1050 S Hill Street in Downtown Los Angeles. ...
Christina Tobin, founder and chair of Free and Equal, stated: ...
“We are so very grateful to The Belasco Theater for accommodating Saturday’s festival with less than 24 hours notice."

Public Enemy aren't performing. Chuck D is speaking instead.
