The warmers are becoming skeptics

Are you seriously trying to move the goalposts and say that paraphrasing you is insufficient that it needs to be an exact word for word quote?

:dl:

an entire field that has grown to big, too fast and has to some extent been hijacked by greed, ideology, politics and/or power and has lost much of its integrity - that isn't my fault, nor Joe's, nor the deniers (although they may have helped), the warmers themselves have caused that.
An entire field of science written off, like it's a Kevin Bacon board game. The naked epitome of anti-science zealotry.

:dl:

Fail... again

They are not my words, you said I said them now

Prove it or retract it

Even your use of paraphrasing is wrong - what has been posted is not even close, nor in context of what you suggest.

They are not my words, I never said then, because it is not my belief.

So you don't say the science doesn't matter. You don't think the science doesn't matter.

But you are too ignorant to debate the science. Your own words.
You have no ability to intelligently discuss it. Your own words.
You don't believe in Global Warming, or that humans caused it. Your own words.
Politics is the reason for this. Your own words.

So, how does the science behind this scientific theory matter? If you can't discuss it, but you can sprend hundreds of posts stating that its wrong despite being utterly unable to understand it... does it matter?

You might say it does.

Sigh

Apart from the fact that every attempt FAILs, to prove I do not think the science is important, you also miss the fact that this is in fact a social issues and current events thread.

The science does matter, and if you had carefully read my posts 308, 287 and many others you would see that I actually believe the science does matter. You might also see that I am not in fact a denier (in spite of the usual stereotyping).

I leave the science to be discussed by those far better equipped, that does not mean I understand nothing, nor does it mean I refuse to learn, but I can recognise more knowledgable people in that area when I see them. That does not mean I am not allowed to throw in my 0.02c.

I find it very interesting from a psychological viewpoint as to why the warmers would rather attack anyone not following the line than engage in reasonable discussion, but there it is.

If AGW is real - and how would any of us honestly know if it is? We can only believe one way or the other based on what we are told and read and - dare I say it - where our politics and ideological interests lie. But if it is real, it is a tragedy that the valid science has been hijacked by those political interests and ideologies.

In the meantime I remain skeptical (not a denier) and rather enjoy (as you must) the cut and thrust of the debate.
What is interesting (read incredulous) also to me is that you continue to use the same rudeness the whole way through - do you really think I care - if I did, I would have stopped posting long ago. You must know by now I thrive on it.

Einstein said the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Many of you, by that definition are insane.

So back to the discussion.

How do we (they) actually get the message out properly?
How do we get the science back on track (I use that term loosely, the science may be perfectly valid, the message is not).
And how do remove/ignore the polical agendas?

Come on, if you are serious about some serious discussion, why not explore these? Or should I expect more insanity?

The problem is, that tossers like us that swallow the political crap put out by both sides.
Yep, you guys - and me. :D

What's the general opinion on Mike Hulme? I just found his name and I'm wondering if he's a reliable source. Worth reading or not?

Er.... that's not what this thread is about.

This thread is in social issues and relates directly to the migration of peoples opinions. I know that must rub you the wrong way; but as my old Nanna used to tell me when things happened I didn't like: "Stiff".:D

March 30, 2010
Oh, that inconvenient growing polar ice cap

… snip ...

Global warmists continue to circulate alarming warnings that the past winter was among the warmest on record. … snip ...

Somehow the Arctic Ocean did not get the memo. See here for an update on the rapidly growing extent of the polar ice cap throughout March 2010.

… snip ...

Indeed the March sea-ice extent is now well within two standard deviations of the "baseline" set in the period 1979-2000 -- outside of which is touted on this website as an indication for extreme alarm.

…. snip ...

Actually, the entire premise of this data-plot is specious. Why is the time-period from 1979 to 2000 so significant? We have ten years of additional satellite data. If the entire 31 year period were averaged, and plotted, all it would show is that the data , by definition, fluctuates around a statistical mean in a way that is not nearly so "alarming".
