How do we solve our problems there?

You choose:

Timetables with benchmarks?

Benchmarks with timetables?

I'm not sure I understand the distinction. I would think that benchmarks with specific times for each benchmark would be functionally equivalent to timetables with specific benchmarks noting each part of the timetable.

Try the Cheney vision?
VP Cheney in a recent "softball" interview said:
I know what the President thinks. I know what I think. And we're not looking for an exit strategy. We're looking for victory. And victory will be the day when the Iraqis solve their political problems and are up and running with respect to their own government, and when they're able to provide for their own security. How we get to that objective is what we need to keep in mind. Our strategy hasn't changed. Our tactics change from time to time, and they have to adapt and adjust. We're eager to have thoughts and ideas from experienced people in terms of how we can move forward, in having the Baker-Hamilton group go put fresh eyes on the problem and take a look at it.
General Casey's comments yesterday showed a 12-18 month period for improved Iraqi capacity to do what VP Cheney asserts are victory conditions.

Grand Ayatollah Sistani wept. :(

Bush is a benchmark on the underwear of America.

No other options? What would Henry Kissinger do? Maybe Bush could burglarize Daniel Ellsberg's psychatrists office. I dunno, this is a real, uh... headscratcher.

I guess it would be funnier if so many people weren't dying.

We lose 65 Americans every day from drunk driving accidents. Where is the outrage? Did you know that crash test dummie experiments determined that if every driver and passenger in a car wore a helmet, thousands of these lives would be saved.

That is stupid in so many levels... It's quite hilarious :D

Henry, I think, would start secretly bombing Cambodia.

You are right, however, it isn't funny. Too many good people dying and being scarred for life.

Rush....please go back to the Michael J. Fox thread.

Reinstate the draft and send 100,000 more troops to get us out a.s.a.p. We must fix what we break.

I dont' want to feed the trolls or anything but... 365*65 = 23,725. How many thousands of lives would be saved? Like, three-thousand? Or 13,000? Because I might have to start wearing helmet. And it'd be awesome if I got in a car accident and lived. Well, assuming no long-term damage. Then I'd be all like, "Yeah, my helmet saved my life, so F-off to all the numbskulls who called me a dork."

I'm pretty sure liberal fascist icon Ralph "I know what's best for you" Nader doesn't even encourage wearing helmets.

Oh, the stupid war. Nothing's going to happen. This is just a bunch of hand-waving. In order to get anywhere on the policy front, in order to meaningfully change course, we need Congressional oversight.
