Well, I'm sure Linda and Scott will belabor me about the head for starting this to early, but I've always been an impatient lad.

The JREF got a lot of free work out of the Board denizens last TAM3, and I see no reason that they shouldn't get the same labor at the same price this year. For one, it helps the JREF keep costs down; for two, it's a great way to meet and socialize with other JREF members, especially if you've never met many of them, and three, I mean, what else are you going to do in Las Vegas, Nevada, huh?  :D

There are four major tasks that we did last year, IIRC:

Packet Assembly--This was done by some of the early arrivers on Wednesday, mostly putting the information packets togeher and taking them over to the registration area.

Registration--This helped Linda and others with getting folks who had pre-registered their packets and also distributing stuff (t-shirts). I call dibs on this Linda, anytime after 2:30PM Thursday and I'm there.

Booksale--During the TAM, there is a large number of books being sold. You get to restock the books and keep them neat. CF Larsen LIVES there during TAM4 and tolerates the other volunteers who work with them as long as they don't make a nuisance of themselves.

Cleanup--For the leftover crew Sunday, we get to help move tables and chairs and cart the remaining stuff from Registration back to the Work room--and believe me, it saves the JREF some $$$ not having to hire Vegas labor to do the work.

So think about volunteering--it does help and it's a great way to meet people and know what is going on (or so I heard, nobody ever told me ANYTHING :boggled: )

I forget anything, folks? Linda, you going to organize this?

When I registered, I advised Linda that I would again be a volunteer. I was advised that Scott would be coordinating the helping humans. Last year I worked the book / merchandise tables as well as general schlepping of stuff. It gave me a chance to meet more people than I otherwise would have. I am therefore awaiting the Scott decree.

Oh I love packet making!!! Come on, it's mayhem and madness!!!

It's the best part of TAM!!!!

Sign me up NOW!

I'm in for anything and everything before things get rolling. Booksales/tables depends on schedule and setup.

I volunteer for any and all tasks (within reason and US federal law, of course) starting Thursday morning until Sunday afternoon.

Dibs on the book table. I'll hang around for whatever comes around.

Had this one nailed in my OP:

We'll try not to disturb you too much, Claus..;) :p :D

Also, last year suezoled manned (womanned?) the cash register for the book and stuff sales. Don't know if she's coming this year (she's pretty well stopped posting) so I don't know if Linda has alternative plans or not.

Anybody here able to count without using their fingers?

I will be flying in Wednesday night; so I will be able to help all day Thursday. Just tell me when to be where and I'm there.

I can work a charge machine....and Kitten will be there also WORKING!!!!

Though some of you guys had better volunteer to take her out to dinner, cause I am totally broke paying for her tuition. Someone had better feed her.

I also volunteered to volunteer with Linda shortly after registration, at Kitten's recommedation. Linda told me Hal would be heading up the volunteer organization efforts, but I hereby offer my services. I'll be arriving Wednesday and leaving Monday, so I'm available for both pre and post-TAM efforts. Whatever is required, I"m in. It'll keep me away from the Black Jack tables and video poker anyway! The money I save can go to JREF!

I'm good for a . . . feeding.

Thank you Paul. We are in senior year here people! After she graduates I might be able to afford luxuries again like socks. OF course, there's always grad school....

Plus, she is going down to JREF to help out Linda for a few weeks soon. So she is an unpaid preTAM volunteer. Oddly enough somehow I ended up paying for her plane ticket...so I'm PAYING for my daughter to be an unpaid pre TAM volunteer. She gets a free trip to Florida to hang out with Linda, Randi, Jose and Kramer. I get to stay home and shovel snow and hang out with the squirrels that have invaded my attic~!

As I said in my PM to Scott, I'm available to volunteer. I plan to arrive on the 25th and leave on the 29th or 30th. I'm an accountant so I'm pretty good with keeping track of money (except my own) and I can help out anywhere that you need help. I look forward to meeting everyone!

And Jeff! I'll be there a bit in the first week of December. And I'll make sure she gets fed, although Kramer does a good job of keeping everyone in bagels.

I'm available for some volunteering, although I'm still sorting out the when and wheres that I'll actually be there.

I'm getting in around 8:45 am on the 25th (my flight got rescheduled).. So I would be happy to volunteer to do packets or registry.. Please let me know!
