The Unstoppable Hillary Juggernaut

The media likes to build people up and them set them on fire.

Remember John McCain?

Hillary Clinton is going to get kicked in her balls by the same media running these "hillary is unstoppable" stories now.

I would argue that McCain did it to himself.

A pimple is a disaster to a teenager. Bushs' disasters cause death and suffering of many--as does his lack of foresight, refusal to take advice, and "messages from god". I don't see the disasters as comparable... but then my mind hasn't been molded by Rupert Murdoch's news sources. I prefer a more well rounded in take of what is going on in my country.

Same here. Which is why I was able to make my claim.

Well, she could continue Bush's policies...

Or she and Bush could both divorce their current spouses and marry each other. It was all a plot, all along. All the partisan wrangling for the last sixteen years was just a cover for their Forbidden Passion. Once united under a new regime as husband and wife, they will rule the galaxy as father and son! Mwah hah hah! Passion! Romance! Intrigue! Full Backal Nudity! This summer, at a theater near you!

And, BTW, JFK might be just a little overrated due to martyrdom? He is after all the guy who started Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs.

Please tell me you're joking. It had nothing to do with the French before JFK did it or Eisenhower sending in advisers, right?

What I said was shorthand for "started major US involvement in the Vietnam war." I think we send a few military advisors to many allied countries and that's no big deal. I didn't mean that Kennedy started the Vietnam war in a vacuum.

or did I misinterpret? What disaster do you anticipate in the wake of Hilary?

I said she would be a disaster. I didn't compare her with the current disaster. She could be better, she could be worse, although that would be hard to do.

Health Care will be the big one.

Hillary is certain to win the Dem's nod, but as to the general election? That's what scares me. There is such a fierce torrent of anti-Hillary sentiment in this country that her nomination just plays into the hands of Republican Mudmasters.

She has a relatively high rating among the general public who would "never vote for her under any circumstances."

She's having a tougher time with the "democratic wing of the Democratic party" at the moment because she's not 100% rabid anti-war. But she knows she needs moderate positions in this to win the general election. Of course, what's "moderate" with respect to the war is shifting, too...

Yep. People confuse democratic & republican party popularity for general public popularity. You have to remember that the only people involved and engaged now are the freaks. The true bleevers on both sides. The ones who are completely out of touch with reality.

I would not use quite that strong language, but I agree with you.
Candidates for the Presedential nomination in both parties play the same game;During the primaries move to the left (if you are a Dem) or the right (if you are in the GOP) to get support from the more militant wing of the party, but once you have the nomination in hand move back to the political center as quickly as possible.
One reason why Edwards is having such trouble is that a great many Dems who are thinking ahead to the general electiion think he has gone a little to far to the left to be able to get back to the center in time for the general election.
