The TRUTH is Out There . . . Maybe

I was going to start a new thread but this one seems to be an obvious fit.

"Astronomers at the Main Observatory in Kyiv say they have tracked many unknown objects over the daytime skies of Ukraine by taking advantage of the same effect that causes blue skies."
Not yet peer reviewed. ;)

The paper is here:
Unidentified aerial phenomena I. Observations of events complete with diagrams, pictures and formulae.

Apparently the Sky is Full of Ships of various sizes and opacities, rushing around at tremendous speeds at varying heights.

I wonder how we've managed to miss them so far? :o

The results are in.

Mick West:
Ukrainian UAP Study: "Observation of Events"

They're flies.

Physicist Avi Loeb:
Physicist Avi Loeb on whether the UFOs over Ukraine are as weird as they seem/

They're artillery shells.

And the actual Scientific Council of Ukraine:

Controversial Ukrainian UAP Study Shot Down in Statement by Scientific Council

It's all BS:

The relevant Kyiv observatory (Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine/MAO NASU) issued a statement that confirms Loeb's conclusion. Accordingly, the sightings were made in the observatory's test mode during a planned meteor observation, and the results were not discussed or reviewed with the observatory. Due to the media uproar, the observatory convened a seminar on the case on September 15, at which the following important conclusions were reached:

"The observations of Zhilyaev and his colleagues are original, but the processing and interpretation of the results was done at an inadequate scientific level and with significant errors in determining the distance of the observed objects. Also, the dates of the sightings are missing from the article; the authors do not indicate which events were observed from two locations simultaneously; the authors do not provide arguments that the observed UAPs may include natural phenomena or artificial objects of terrestrial origin (meteors; objects carried by the wind over long distances; space debris, etc.). Instead of a critical analysis of the observations (possible errors, the adequacy of the models, the accuracy of the post-processing), the authors postulate unjustified conclusions about the characteristics of the observed objects as UAPs. The MAO Academic Council of NASU believes that the above-mentioned B.E. Zhilyaev's conclusion was hasty and did not meet the professional requirements for publishing the results of scientific research."

Fun while it lasted.

This just in. ;)

‘New territory’: America’s top aerospace sleuths join UFO hunt

America’s top aerospace engineers and scientists are joining forces to protect us from UFOs.

The country’s largest organization of government and private sector technical experts is launching a project to study “unidentified aerial phenomena,” after concluding that recent incursions by mysterious craft pose a safety hazard to military and commercial aircraft, according to people involved in the effort.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, which includes among its members the country’s largest defense and NASA contractors, has established three committees to study the technology, how incursions affect pilot and passenger safety, and to coordinate with government agencies and international researchers also focused on the topic.

With all this effort, I expect that we'll have a definitive answer any day now.

With all the claimed/reported/not reported phenomenon that occur around aircraft it seems near none of those incidents actually affect the flight.

In fact I have rarely heard of one even causing a change in flight path.
